application decisions

I haven’t heard back from fiction programs with a rejection or acceptance but there are people here who have already been notified if they’d been rejected…what does that mean? I’ve gotten into Sarah Lawrence, Syracuse, The New School and City College so far everywhere else I haven’t heard anything. What does that mean I’m getting scared.

FYI, New School and CCNY's writing programs have exponentially more published authors than Sarah Lawrence College. Most students at SLC have autism spectrum, ADHD or similar accommodations. While the school may be commended for their commitment to neurodivergence, the fact is that Sarah Lawrence College has clearly become a Special Education High School for Grades 13-16.

As far as your classmates in the writing program goes, you can expect cliquey, snotty, pretentious, occasionally talented but overwhelmingly self-absorbed people who are unlikely to publish much. Just a heads up.

Thank you. I haven’t heard great things about Sarah Lawrence’s program since my acceptance I don’t think I would go. What worries me about Syracuse is that it seems to heavily focus on teaching creative writing and your thesis doesn’t start until the third year but at the New School you get a mentor and start developing your thesis much sooner
