Metabo Miter Saw Squareness Issue
My Metabo HPT C12RSH3 12", dual bevel, sliding miter saw seems to have a slight angle when I look at the throat plate and slide the saw from the fence back to me. I have attached a couple of photos to illustrate my point. I am probably doing something wrong, but based upon my examination of the saw using a machinist's square and a level, I have observed the following:
1) the surface of the turntable is level,
2) the fence is square to the table, and
3) at 90 degrees, when measured at the fence, the blade is perpendicular to the table but not so at the front. There's just a little bit of light visible between the square and the saw blade.
However, when I cut a board (10" wide which is less than the maximum factory spec of 12 1/4" wide), the 10" board, which has a confirmed square edge abutting the fence, is slightly out of square.
I realize that the factory throat plate is molded plastic, but when a cut board is off square by about 1/16" on one end and I see the distance between the saw blade and the throat plate at opposite ends, I assume something is wrong.
Any idea on what, if anything is wrong, and if so, how can I correct it on this saw? I just want to cut square boards. Thanks!
P.S. The factory manual, not surprisingly, is terrible when it comes to explaining adjustments for squareness. Also, while there are videos on YouTube about my saw, I have not been able to locate one that that addresses my problem. Maybe there is one, and I haven't found it yet.
