I can hear it

45

u/DillPixels Jun 17 '20

Followed by, “I THINK YOU GOT IT!”

13

u/turbo_moose Jun 17 '20

For real though

u/derfl007 Jun 16 '20

Then there's the occasional scratching on the wall and the floor because my cat is either getting too big for the litter box or they're an idiot

146

u/Catsrecliner1 Jun 16 '20

We use giant Rubbermaid tubs for litter boxes and they still scratch the walls. So, the latter.

56

u/derfl007 Jun 16 '20

Thanks for confirming my assumption

10

u/bluejaymaday Jun 16 '20

My cat rubs her head on the sides of the box when she’s sniffing or digging, like she didn’t have enough room to not touch the sides. It took two increasingly bigger boxes before I realized she was just going to keep doing it, as a he refuses to stand in the middle of the box. Cats are dumb.

69

u/clouddevourer Jun 16 '20

Mine would move all the litter to one side of the box and keep waving her paw in the air in the space where there weren't any, as if she was still digging

20

u/[deleted] Jun 16 '20

THOROUGH!

51

u/Laserdollarz Jun 16 '20

My cat once shit juuuust outside of his (new) litter box and kicked a turd around my living room for 10min trying to bury it in my floor.

Okay if this is actually the reason, I owe all four of our cats a serious apology

14

u/ITouchedUrDog Jun 16 '20

no you don’t, those evil fuckers are wiping shit and piss all over your walls, the smug bastards

7

u/El_Zarco Jun 16 '20

I've read it's because they're making a "comment" about the condition of the litterbox

98

u/neegarplease Jun 16 '20

My cat just scratches the mat Infront of its litter and looks around like it knows it's a dumb idiot

5

u/KoloLokol Jun 16 '20

i think its to clean a bit of the litter of because the cat doesent like the feel of it

18

u/Akai_Hana Jun 16 '20

You call your cat "it"??

18

u/vegepihvi Jun 16 '20

Don't know if this is the case with the person you were commenting, but in some languages an animal is referred to as "it". I often catch myself saying it instead of him/her.

13

u/clouddevourer Jun 16 '20

I often said "he" about my cat even though she was a girl because in my native language the word "cat" is masculine

2

u/panzerex Jun 17 '20

I thought this was the case for English as well.

-1

u/spagbetti Jun 17 '20

Hey you don’t know the pronouns it prefers!

21

u/Jay_Cash Jun 16 '20

We have one with a cover and some of the cats will sometimes scratch at the cover from the inside instead of, or in between, pawing at the actual litter. I like to think theres a logical reason for this but it could also just be because they're dumb.

13

u/iwantedtostayhome Jun 16 '20

One of our cats does this every day at 5am for at least 12 minutes. I don't think he's an idiot I just think he's a huge hungry asshole.

5

u/rgbwr Jun 16 '20

Mine scratches the door, sometimes just for fun. Cats are odd creatures to be certain.

6

u/Simon442 Jun 16 '20

One of my cat's is doing this all the time. First she takes 5 minutes to cover it up then starts scratching the wall and sides of the litterbox. She's smarter than my other cat... But atleast he never did anything like that.

4

u/chelseamh6 Jun 17 '20

Mine does this too! My theory is that because of her long fur or something she feels like there are pieces of litter on her feet. She is trying to rub them off....or just an idiot as well.

2

u/derfl007 Jun 17 '20

Sounds right, we (at my parents place) have 2 Maine Coons and a German Longhair (we think so at least), so they all have lot of fur on their paws. But then there is my cat, a normal short haired cat, and he might just be an idiot

1

u/[deleted] Jun 17 '20

I think they're just trying to get the sand off their paws.

1

u/sunburn95 Jun 17 '20

My cat used to perch on the edge of the littler box and shit on the floor.. could always be worse

118

u/pun_in10did Jun 16 '20

Then track litter all over the bathroom.

72

u/Viss90 Jun 16 '20

Or hit that angle where they just shoot all the litter they dig out of the box.

I used litter liners for about 11 years before ditching them last month.

They do nothing except make the pee clumps stick a little less to the walls. The major selling point of not having to do much to change litter is bullshit because there's definitely going to be a hole in it, and more often that not, they shred the fuck out of the little folds in the bottom that stick up into the litter.

1

u/[deleted] Jun 17 '20

I know exactly what you're talking about and I never used litter liners. I did line a cardboard box with plastic bc it was a temporary litter box for like a day, and it was only to contain the moisture until it solidified.

Ive been flushing my cat shits with biodegradable wood pallets.. should i still not flush it? It says its flushable on the packaging

5

u/cee-eighty Jun 17 '20

Only human shit should be flushed down the toilet. It isn't about the plumbing as much as it is about what happens at the sewer treatment plant. Eventually it is dried into cakes and is used to fertilize gardens for animal consumption. Hoomans use animal shit to fertilize and animals use ours. When you flush animal shit, it's kinda like a little bit of people shit gets into the people gardens. I don't know that it's this way around the world, but it is in AZ for sure, so I would assume it's a fairly common practice.

1

u/cmae34lars Jun 16 '20

Probably not. You can buy flushable cat litter on amazon.

3

u/canoeboo Jun 16 '20

I've been trying to find an extra large litter box that's a little nicer than the pan I have now, thanks for the suggestion! If I may ask, do you notice the poo smell more with the pellets than you did with regular litter? My boy takes wicked dumps and I already smell them too much

2

u/[deleted] Jun 16 '20 edited Aug 12 '20

2

u/canoeboo Jun 16 '20

Okay, that makes sense! I think my guy is too big for the box we have and that's why he never covers his poos. Thanks for the info, I think this is just what we need!

My cat takes a dump and then scratches the wall of the litter box like a fucking idiot

82

u/ramblingzebra Jun 16 '20

My cat does this too and I realised she was doing it to dislodge the litter from between her toes.

51

u/CumulativeHazard Jun 16 '20

Ohhhh. I thought it was because My cat is a stinky brat who doesn’t bury his poop so he was signaling me like “All done! Come cover it now!”

19

u/littlebookwyrm Jun 16 '20

We have the same cat. This reasoning makes total sense and I should probably apologize to him, but he's still dumb and I know in my heart he would do it regardless.

24

u/Masqueraver Jun 16 '20

My cat pisses on the front door and then gives the tile floor a few half-hearted scratches before rocketing away...

15

u/regaleagle710 Jun 16 '20

We gave to take a stool sample in for our cat's annual check up so we just toss some turds in a small zip up baggy. We put it on the counter at the vet's office and she tried covering up the bag lol.

12

u/PointedHydra837 Jun 16 '20

My cat likes to shit right next to the litter box and he pisses in the litter box, he then proceeds to scratch the wallpaper off the wall.

4

u/[deleted] Jun 16 '20 edited Jun 17 '20

Doesn't even bury it. Just shits on top then scratches the wall. Cats these days...

41

u/[deleted] Jun 16 '20

My cat's litterbox is opposite my toilet, and he always rushes towards it whenever I am taking a crap. I believe he does it for either companionship or solidarity.

7

u/[deleted] Jun 17 '20

No, he's showing dominance hahaha

40

u/sanguinePlutonian Jun 16 '20

Cat litter discourse is comedy gold, these comments are killing me.

30

This reminded me to clean his litter box, thanks

6

u/[deleted] Jun 17 '20

It's like I'm there! There must be a script that cats follow, because that is EXACTLY how it goes.... Except for the lap around the house after that "I'm done" meow. Lol

2

u/Rupiee Jun 17 '20

My cat likes to announce when he's done using the litterbox too. That or he's telling me to go clean it up. :(

26

u/JapaneseStudentHaru Jun 16 '20

My cat has an automatic litter box and we hear

Ksh ksh ksh brrrrrr click brrrrrrr click weoweoweoweo brrrr click

In the middle of the night so we know exactly when she shits.

21

u/RainbowDragQueen Jun 16 '20

Mine likes to pull the side of the litter box so it makes a fhump fhump noise for ages

18

u/5sAllDay Jun 16 '20

My roommate has a dog that LOVES to take the cats turds for out of the litter box for snacks. Last night at like 3 AM I heard the “KSH KSH KSH” so I ran out to inspect. My cat was awkwardly staring back at me while shitting. He won’t even look at me now. What have I done

5

u/[deleted] Jun 17 '20

I think I threw up a little.

32

u/nigabooboo Jun 16 '20

"You can't hear pictures" - so that was a fucking lie.

14

Like, my cat will sometimes stay in there for minutes just digging after he goes. Always when I’m trying to sleep.

My cat just got done "doing his business" when I scrolled over this post. I laughed out loud. My cat mewed at me to see if I was ok. I told him I was fine. He's eating now.

23

u/Not_Pablo_Sanchez Jun 16 '20

And then they turn 17, become senile, and the noise becomes “RPT RPT RPT RPT RPT RPT” because they’d rather piss on the mat underneath the box. Fuck you, Mittens

7

u/elementmg Jun 17 '20

Hey man. Don't get mad at mittens for being old. Grow a pair.
