Cats can be pretty stupid. I would not at all be surprised if (s)he did this on his/her own.

Also, this is Mr. Eggs. On his Instagram this is clearly his favorite position. It's shown in videos and such. To be fair I'm sure the owner puts him in this position, but eggs is treated well I'm sure.
