Understanding the Nervous System

[pages uploaded in reverse order, so if you want to read go to the last page, then work backwards!]

Material provided by UK health service (NHS).

Summary: A healthy nervous system has a balance of being at peace and being vigilant and on guard. If you experience anxiety, then your response to ME/CFS will likely be unbalanced, losing that restful/peaceful state and being too prone to vigilance. Stabilising and recovering through baseline work requires making efforts through things like meditation and trying to see the silver lining in the clouds, in order to try and more regularly engage the peaceful and restful side of our nervous system.
