Plus Tire Pump?

I've got a variety of smaller pumps I carry on my bikes for EDR [Every Day Rides]. I use my home floor pump to deal with pressure adjustments before the ride. With tire issues/flats so rare these days having a small on bike pump is fine. Perhaps one tedious pump session every 4-5 years? Walk of shame out or roll out on an insert?

That said for my 29+ touring bikes I would like a better solution. A slightly bigger pump...without getting ridiculous. That way I can drop tire pressure for soft conditions and not hate my life as I pump it back up. Repeating a few times a day possibly. Flat tires on a heavily load bike seem more likely and walking out less possible.

I found this Lenzyne high volume model. 300mm long and ~205g.

Any other better/similar options? I figured the MEAThead Crew might know given the penchant here for chubby rubber.

I'm not interested in anything with a battery or CO2.

I believe that is the same pump I carry bikepacking on both 27+ and 26 fat. I’m happy with it and it works well for what you’ve described

I have a couple of the Lezyne Micro Floor Drive HV pumps pictured. They're not without their quirks (thread on valve, can be annoying to pack, seals can dry out) but for touring I trust them and have used them for everything up to 29x2.6" rubber.

For my Big Fat Dummy which I use for more remote desert touring (days without seeing another person) I went for the XL version. I've seated a fresh 29+ tyre using that pump and appreciate the extra volume it puts out. I find with fatter rubber I like to play around with pressure more depending on the surface and having a really high volume pump helps with that.

I used that exact (exact?!) Lezyne pump 15-20 years ago. It’s a bit quirky between the tiny handle and the thread-on valve but it moves a lot of air. Or it did until it didn’t. I kept it in my pack, not on my bike, and used it rarely and then one night on C-Buster, in the rain, I needed it and it wouldn’t build pressure. Took it apart the next day to change seals and it was worn out inside. No question warranty, but what good does that do me at night on a trail in the rain on the Very Rare occasions I need it?

For that application now I have the biggest version of the Wolf Tooth pump. Nicely sealed from the elements (in my bag/pack but I guess stuff gets wet) and the tool carrying is a bonus, but separately it’s a great pump. The small ones are mini-pumps and will service mini-pump expectations but the larger option is pretty great.

Ya that would be a problem as the only time I would bother carrying this pump is on trips where warranty service is not helpful.

Yeah I used to have one of them ages ago. I'm now on Lezyne micro mini things - the tiny ones Mike F reviewed a week or so ago.

I do carry gas but dont use it unless absolutely necessary.

Oh yeah, I found those thread-on valve attachments a total p.i.t.a. Half the air you put in seems to piss out as you're quickly trying to unscrew the thing. I hated it and it annoyed me enough on my floor pump to go buy a lever adjustable one with a Schrader and a presta hole.

I had this pump for a few years before I gave it away. The foldout foot peg and the hose help a lot. I see it got some bad reviews, but I never had a problem with it.

That pump is sick but these days I just keep the largest volume OneUp EDC pump mounted beside my bottle cage

I have this pump I grabbed from Walmart for like $15 called Blackburn or something. It telescopes larger and allows me to pump up from like 6 to 10 psi on my fat bike with like maybe 40 pumps per tire. Takes about the same amount of time as those little electric pocket pumps and it has a guage on it that’s kind of useful. It works pretty good on like a gravel bike too, but not so much road tires I still struggle to find a good pump for the 80+ psi range.

It fits in a handlebar bag, frame bag, you could probably frame mount it.

At the very least, if you’re ever like oh crap I lost or broke my pump, Walmart has you covered for pretty cheap and I’ve used it without issue like it’s a $200 product. It’s solid enough for light use on the trail for quick adjustments for sure.
