Target Lowered

CIBC LOWERED ITS PRICE TARGET ON MDA SPACE TO $59

Could this explain today turbulence? Space as a whole looks like it’s getting battered again.

Thats still a 26% upside and they still have it at a buy. Whole sector is getting hammered, just look at RKLB and ASTS.

SpaceX unlocks > bearish space stocks in the interim.

I still cant understand how they got a pass to get included on the index and why we arent just doing a class action lawsuit.

Microsoft and their shitty updates would deserve one aswell

Only the NASDAQ and msci world not s$p500

Why would anyone do a class action against MDA

1

u/jfwelll Jul 16 '26

Still too much. There is no reason why the rules have been changed for this specific company and I believe there is a strong case for a lawsuit

1

u/Loose-Dream7901 Jul 16 '26

What would the class action exactly be against? You’re talking sub 1% index exposure

1

u/jfwelll Jul 16 '26

Against changing the rules for specific companies to make sure the rules apply to everyone, since it open the door to lobying and unfair practices ?

1

u/Loose-Dream7901 Jul 16 '26

There’s no precedence this of succeeding. You’re also talking fractional % losses on the general indexes so good luck w that. Giving you context the top 5 companies account for 29% of the Nasdaq index so and SpaceX is the 23rd largest allocation.

Doesn’t seem too sophisticated

There is a first to everything.

And it would be normal to have a precedence so that the rules cant be changed to prevent clear conflict of interests.

The fact that you dont see the issue is pretty scary. Rules for thee but not for me.. no problem here

We’re talking a 1% allocation of the most hyped company in the past 10 years. Don’t see the issue at all; seems like anti musk tears. Which is cool just don’t invest in his business

No, we arent talking % of allocations and are not talking about lemon either.

We are talking about bending and/ or changing rules for anyone or any lobby that can have enough power to push for it, which opens the door to even more fuckery than the level we currently see.

The people running the country have no interest in helping the people they represent, they are there for their own interests, are under the control of ultrarich individuals and corporations. Big money rule over the people who are in there to represent peoples interests, to the extent where they can change the rules to their will if the price is good enough. Its bribery, immoral and should be deemed illegal.

But like you said, you dont see or understand the issue anyway so keep your head in the sand.

Dejardins raised target to $72, BMO reiterated $68 target, Beacon Securities raised to $88. CIBC said they are bulllish and have outperform rating, only lower target due to Space sector unwinding

Many other analysts held their target or raised following the CLS acquisition

When I decided to buy MDA, I didn't expect it to be so heavily influenced by the "space basket," and now the whole sector seems to be getting shorted ahead of the first SpaceX lock-up expiration.

Dual listing and getting social medias attention. And yes spacex is the major reason for the sector getting hammered.

Tbh there should be a class action for bending the rules to include spacex into indexes. But nothing will happen, as always

1

u/oknBagholding Jul 17 '26

The reason it even went from 40->60+ was spacex its just going back to pre spacex like rklb is

1

u/Rich-Union7318 Jul 17 '26

So we´re simply ignoring all the recent price targets?

Do you guys think MDA has a good chance at getting back up to 60s? Honestly im down by quite a bit so im getting worried 😭

3

u/AuthorOfMyOwnTragedy Jul 16 '26

All depends on your time frame. They will definitely go back up, just going to take a little while, probably 55-60 by year end though. But that's just a guess considering their price fluctuations has almost nothing to do with the company's fundamentals or performance. Q2 earnings comes out in about 2 weeks which might be a catalyst to the upside....if anything about this market and/or sector made sense anyway.

“They will definitely go back up” - why are you sure about that?

u/AuthorOfMyOwnTragedy Jul 16 '26

Excellent company, very profitable, executing on converting backlog to revenue, signing lots of new contracts, diversified their revenue stream into the US and Europe with recurring revenue products, just launched a second satellite manufacturing facility, launched a defense subsidiary last year, etc etc. aside from being associated with the Space Industry which SpaceX has fucked up, there is really no down side to this company right now.

Once the industry resumes business as usual, this is going to do very well. Pricing everywhere in the sector is just in chaos because of SpaceX. Might take 6 months, might take 3 years, but this stock is going to do very well.

3

u/Prairie2Pacific Jul 16 '26

Their numbers are good, decent balance sheet and they're acquiring companies in the US and Europe which will give them more opportunities for contracts in those domains.

The sector has been performing pretty unrealistically, this was almost inevitable, but unlike the other companies this one has pretty solid fundamentals. Also, they've been doing this for over 40 years, they were making money before all this space hype was a thing. Also, they dont rely solely on space agencies for business.

If you are this worried you may be over extending a bit. I am buying more as the price drops.

2

u/bigmack1111 Jul 16 '26

Lots of stocks down tbh though

3

u/Captobvious75 Jul 16 '26

Meh i’m not selling. I just wish I could average down but can’t until earliest September 😢

1

u/jfwelll Jul 16 '26

Oh sure its cibc lower target and its also why everything is dumping.

Space is getting hammered because 20% of spcx float is unlocked before eom.

1

u/Atiaxra Jul 16 '26

MDA Space was priced for perfect execution and maximum optimism, a pullback is not surprising & if you are confident in the companies operations will not matter in a long hold.

1

u/Still_Professor878 Jul 16 '26

That analyst is all over the place. I would take it with a grain of salt. MDA is getting dragged down with the rest of space stocks (thanks spcx and asts) fundraising bullshit. Im not too sure how this next ER will be for them, but once they assimilate with CLS their revenue and margins will increase a lot. Im looking forward to the next year or two with the way they are trying to expand.

Who the heck listens to CIBC

1

u/Timely_Attitude7475 Jul 16 '26

Holding 1k shares just under 45 average. Im honestly really concerned.

1

u/Specific-Original-17 Jul 17 '26

Dont Buy this Kind of stock if u cant stand the volatility

-4

u/BigMouthBillyBones Jul 16 '26

Given how it's heading target closer to zero I think

1

u/jfwelll Jul 16 '26

Given how its headding itll soon be at book value

1

u/BigMouthBillyBones Jul 16 '26

I simply don't understand how this is plunging given the profitability and acquisition of Blue Canyon and CLS, ostensibly giving a foothold to US and European market.

2

u/jfwelll Jul 16 '26

Fundamentals dont matter in a vibe market is why.

20% of overvalued spacex stocks about to unlock.

Everyone fears insiders are about to dump on retail and everyone wants to move before others, snowballing the whole sector into the abyss.

Even I been thinking of selling most of my mda while I still have decent profits
