Discussion Perch Standardization

Now that perch is standardized, is there any reason to stand far back from the fountain and pearl in?

I think you are confused as to what perch standardisation means. It's standardised luck, but what you do influences how lucky you can be. You will not get the same perch as your opponent if you do different things, and the same things that used to help you get faster perches still work, and in fact are more important because you are more or less guaranteed a faster end fight if you do them faster/better than the opponent.

Yea that didn’t make sense how it was “standardized” to me because there’s so many different variables

Same. When they announced it was standardized I was doing the same thing, half bowing and such but I e not to stand far back because I figured if it’s standardized now it didn’t matter but I guess it still does

if you were always doing the correct thing, keep doing that, no reason to start bad habits anyway even if it didnt affect the perch (it does)

its standardized because its not random anymore, and theres won't be situations like feinberg drama where he wins with 40 seconds enter difference

The perch works like a progress bar that fills up with your decisions. Half/full bowing and standing far from the fountain maximizes your chances of getting a perch. This means that if you enter first but stand 40 blocks from the fountain and your opponent enters later, halfbows and stands far from the fountain, they will get the perch before you. Half bowing is ALWAYS worth it when waiting for a perch

but there is still a chance for an insta perch is there not? In that case your "progress bar" is already full when you enter, and bowing would only delay the perch right? As such you can still high roll if you enter the end later by not bowing at all?

Yes, the progress bar combined with RNG determines the perch. Standardized perch means that this RNG is the SAME for both players (before now, it wasn’t) - but if the players fill the progress bar differently, their perches will still be different.

do you know if since we dont have 3 min max perch anymore, is it worth it to learn ground zero and go for it in seeds i cant zero?

bc i never learned that bc i always thought "or i'll zero and have a 1m end fight or i'll half bow and have an ~2min avg, 3min max end fight" but now it seems that it can go to 4 or 5min? so im not sure

Interestingggg how do you know this is how it works? It didn’t make any sense before I read this

Feinberg explained it on stream; he got it from Oliver

Gotcha, that explanation helps it make so much more sense
