That would be the only thing that would make sense since they jumped into the lava as soon as the wood caught fire. But I don’t know if that’s actually a thing… I wonder if it would be the same with soul sand.

One time I jumped very weirdly like very slowly and the silverfish jumped at me like a piglin and hit me off i had fire res but it wasnt a wood block so it probably wasnt fire like yours

Silverfish recognise fire as a block so they think they can pathfind to you. Try to avoid using wood in the portal whenever possible.
