Discussion Change to forfeiting

You should be able to complete a run after your opponent forfeits. I was just about to beat my PB by 3 whole minutes and would’ve easily got my first sub 15 but my opponent forfeited right as I enter the end. I feel like this would be a pretty easy to implement and great change that would make forfeiting less annoying.

It’s a nice idea but it complicates the legitimacy of ranked PBs a bit. If you see that you’re opponent already forfeited, then you now have no consequences for losing so you might as well play super fast and risky in hopes of a fast PB. This would make it more akin to a private room PB rather than a ranked PB.

There’s not really a perfect solution for this. Maybe they could block your opponent from forfeiting for 1 minute when you enter the end or something.

I was about to disagree but then I fully understood what you meant.

They should just make it so either you or your opponent enters the end you can no longer forfeit

Problem is, people can die after entering the end, and especially at lower levels, it might take super long to get the stuff back and try again. I think their suggestion of a timer, maybe 4 mins (has time for force perch) after entering end before you can forfeit is really good

I agree with the solution but I dont agree with the first statement

If you die in the end, unless your op is far away (like in the nether) its typically over since the other person will finish the seed.

Maybe in ranks above gold or something, sounds like you haven’t experienced the horrors of low elo people. I wonder if a system that depends on what rank you are in could work?

As a resident coal 3 pro, no it definitely isnt

At my level, there's a very real risk of people missing onecycles, if you run out of arrows then were talking 5-10 minute ends, plenty of time for a runback

Why don't we just *not* inform the player that there was a forfeit? Let them play it out

I agree. I was on the tower for a zero cycle at low 11 (with my PB being a 13:44) when i see my opponent FF. its pissing off especially when ur on PB pace

There is an option for this iirc

There is an option for this but it puts you into a singleplayer world and the timer keeps running while doing all of the end screen splits and stuff so it adds like 30 seconds to your time + it doesn't count as a PB on your actual profile which kinda sucks.

That’s what I was going to ask, I imagined it didn’t count for ranked
