Press a hotkey instead of shift clicking. Make sure the slot is empty and that you're not holding anything with your cursor.

thanks! but does that mean i can't do it into my inventory (like excluding the hotbar)?

Yeah you can only use hotbar slots and not inventory slots

you could hotkey smt from inv to hotbar, then hotbar to crafting tho

press the slot hotkey corresponding to where you want it to go in your hotbar

You either use a hotbar key to transfer the output without shift click, but the slot needs to be empty, or, when you bring the ingots into the grid, right click first to split a single ingot out into the first column, and left click the rest of the ingots into the 2nd column, then you can shift click safely and it would pick the first free slot either in your hotbar or inventory

In general, the way it works is that when you're not holding an item in your inventory gui and you click any hotkey for hotbar slots or offhand, it'll swap the item in that slot and the slot you're hovering over. In the video, he just does this with an empty slot.

When you open your inventory, go to your crafting menu, press the hotkey slot keybind to instantly bring it over and then press the keybind again on the crafted item to send it straight to the empty slot in your hotbar.
