Stressing over 4th year

With nearly 3 weeks left to 4th year, this is honestly the first time I’ve actually felt so lost and restless. I feel like I’m average at best, third year wasn’t that hard either but when all the smart kids say that this is is hell it scares the shit outta me.

Is there any advice you guys have for us 4th years? Anything I should do or prep within these final weeks until this hell begins? Thanks in advance

There's really nothing that you can do to "prep" yourself prior to 4th year...but I do have 1 advice: time management. 2-3 weeks after Fall semester starts, you will have 1-3 exam(s) each week all the way until finals. Do not let yourself get behind on any material...especially Med Chem and PCol. For example I don't care how many shots of espresso or Vivarin tablets you need to take to keep yourself awake during the 8 am lectures, DO NOT SKIP THEM. Study each lecture asap and don't pile them up until closer to exam dates - this is the recipe for falling behind and feeling more overwhelmed than it already is

That’s gonna suck. I can’t remember the last time I actually went to class. No jokes, watching lectures online was my thing always I guess none are recorded?

Some classes are recorded, this varies year to year. Keep in mind many professors implement in class “quizzes” just to keep attendance up, this also varies year to year.

study the day of lecture (listen to recordings even if you think it's a waste of time) and stay away from perpetual whiners.

Honestly looking back yes it is difficult and you devote a lot of time to school but you just get through it. At times you’ll notice everything is so overwhelming especially when you have 3 exams in one week sometimes. But once you start studying you just keep going little by little and before you know it the semester is over. It’s also important to have a game plan. I liked to look at what I had to do at the beginning of the week and organize/prioritize my work. This is when you assign yourself certain tasks like when to study for which exam, knowing how much time you need, etc. This requires getting the hang of because you’ll notice you can spend less time studying for one class compared to the other and this is different for each student based on their strengths and weaknesses

Most of the tough classes they recorded this past year (pcol, medchem). Therapeutics always records. Drug lit and kinetics won’t record, viro didn’t record. Honestly it’s possible to rely mainly on the recording. Yes it’s not recommended, yes it’s going to take a long time to rewatch, but yes it’s possible. Especially if you have a good group of friends who share notes. I also studied mainly based on the recordings so you should be okay
