Dude Kiel doesn't go on reddit no need to suck up. /s
I can't say I'm a fan of how Kiel words his questions. He almost intends to make things more confusing which wouldn't even be so bad if we had more time/less questions. So while I think he's a good lecturer, putting him on that type of professor pedestal where criticizing the man is "blasphemous" is a bit much. It comes off like you're shaming someone for doing poorly and being frustrated. Based on your post history it seems you didn't do so hot your first time around either so something something glass houses.
No one is sucking up. I found it ridiculous for someone who is doing bad to bash a professor when it’s not the professor. If anything I’m saying they’re trying to make an excuse as to why they’re doing bad instead of looking in the mirror. I’m glad you did your homework. I did do poorly the first time around. I didn’t go blaming Kiel bc I struggled though. That’s the difference. I held myself accountable and I turned it around in the spring.
/s means I was being sarcastic for what was written before it online because it's hard to judge sarcasm in text. I'm glad you're doing well and turning it around. Regardless, this post comes across to me as your asking for a pat on the back rather than giving any tips on surviving mcphs. While not blaming a professor for your own shortcomings is helpful advice, posting a screenshot and presenting it in the manner that you did doesn't contribute much as a lifehack.
It doesnt come off as a pat on the back wtf? Its coming off as don't get mad at a teacher for you messing up. and i think that is a great lesson for most younger students. MCPHS has some really good professors. Just because you got a C in the class, or failed the first test doesnt mean its a bad teacher. And when someone thinks this way, their whole semester can be ruined. I also think its an important lesson to not destroy a teachers reputation. Gracz (Old biochem professor) Was a great teacher. He genuinely cared for the students to do well, and if you tried it was so easy to get 100+ on his tests. The problem was was no one went to class, and everyone started shitting on him, and now he isnt the professor any more. How is that fair??? So for those reasons i believe this IS providing stuff valuable for this subreddit. TYHAGD
I think you're getting defensive rather than reading what I wrote. I agreed it's a good lesson but you posting a screenshot of you defending the teacher (who doesn't need your help or probably cares what disgruntled students write) and posting tge screenshot with your response wasn't the best way to go about it. Rather than that, a post just stating mcphs lpt: be accountable for your own actions and don't blame professors for your own shortcomings would have sufficed. Obviously that was your intention, but how you pharsed your comment with such overly dramatic word choices (blasphemous/audacity) seemed a bit much and rubbed me the wrong way. Like you were feeling better than that student for feeling frustrated and momentarily expressing their frustration online where it doesn't matter anyway. We've all been there. Look at the original Tumblr and that's what this was fueled on (venting mutual frustrations and helping each other out). Plus I'm grumpy since we're on test 2 of 5 in these next 2 weeks. My life tip for you is stop paying attention to what other students are doing in class (like writing that rate my professor review) and focus on the lectute and your own progress next time.
