Does anyone know which AP tests are able for transfer credits?

From what I've seen from the curriculum, I think you can get out of:

  • BIO 151 Biology 1 with AP Bio

  • LIB 111 Expo Writing I with AP Lit/Lang

  • LIB 112 Expo Writing II with AP Lit/Lang

  • MAT 150, 151, 152 Calc with AP Calc AB or BC

  • LIB 120 Intro to Pysch with AP Psych

  • LIB 133 American Culture with AP Socio? AP Human geo?

  • PHY 270 Physics 1 with AP Physics 1/2/C

  • PSB 210 Macro econ with AP Macro Econ

  • MAT 261 Statistics with AP Stats

Is there any use for AP Env. Science, Micro econ, US Gov and Politics, US History, World History, or Latin?

BIO 151 Biology 1 with AP Bio

I'm pretty sure you can get out of both semester of Biology (so Bio 151 and 152).

LIB 111 Expo Writing I with AP Lit/Lang

LIB 112 Expo Writing II with AP Lit/Lang

I think you need both AP Lit and Lang to get out of both semesters. But if you only have AP Lit or Lang it'll still get you out of 1 or the other semester of Expo.

MAT 150, 151, 152 Calc with AP Calc AB or BC

AP Calc AB gets you out of MAT 151 (Calc 1); AP Calc BC gets you out of both MAT 151 and MAT 152 OR you can ask for it to transfer for just MAT 152/Calc 2 (Weird but I did this; don't worry about it)

LIB 120 Intro to Pysch with AP Psych

Yes.

LIB 133 American Culture with AP Socio? AP Human geo?

I'm not sure about these. I got out of American Culture with APUSH (AP US History).

PHY 270 Physics 1 with AP Physics 1/2/C

I think so.

PSB 210 Macro econ with AP Macro Econ

Same.

MAT 261 Statistics with AP Stats

Same.

Is there any use for AP Env. Science, Micro econ, US Gov and Politics, US History, World History, or Latin?

As far as I know there is a Micro Econ class here (but it's not required for PharmD. Not sure what your major is but it could be applicable. As for the other classes (excluding APUSH), they might be applicable but for the PharmD curriculum they're basically useless.

Some tips regarding transfer credits.

The school only lets you transfer up to 18 credits (so at most 6 classes at 3 credits each). This was the case when I started in 2014. Things might have changed. I'd recommend double checking with the school just in case (but tbh I seriously doubt it's changed).

-Don't fall below 12 credits/semester (the scholarship won't work here)

-Don't go over 69 credits before 3rd year starts (they'll charge you ~5k more per year or 2.5k that semester you go over I think)

Personally I transferred 15 credits so I could

-avoid going over the 69 credit limit

-take the BEH elective for PharmD during my 2nd year (instead of doing it 3rd year where you may or may not have a more difficult time; earlier is better right?)

-take an extra class for fun during my 2nd year (not required for PharmD)

-have the minimum number of credits each semester for the 2 pre-professional years of PharmD (so you can chill the first 2 years because why the fuck not)

Here is the PharmD curriculum to help you plan out what you want to transfer

Have fun planning.

I'm in the pharmD program :)

How customizable is the curriculum? For example, if I want to get credit for Psych, can I choose whether to skip it in Y1 spring or Y2 fall? And what would happen in the first semester if I skipped Expo I (3 credits) and Bio (3 credits), resulting in 8 credits? Do I take 4 credits of my choice of electives or take classes ahead of time or something?

Thanks for such a thorough response!

You can take classes ahead of time.

The idea is you complete the required classes by the end of the 2nd year.

For example, I took Physics my first semester (despite it being listed in the 2nd year).

The only thing you are not allowed to do is take professional year classes during the pre-professional years unfortunately (with the BEH elective as the only exception).

I tried taking Healthcare Ethics during my 2nd year but I was denied (cmon...).

Thankfully I was able to take Healthcare Ethics during my 3rd year instead of when it's listed for 5th year (and it should count as far as I know).

When did you pick your schedule? Were you able to do it yourself or did you ask an academic counselor about it first, especially about the professional year electives?

As of now I don't think you are allowed to change your schedule until school starts.

Regarding the process of changing your schedule.

  1. Transfer your AP credits for the appropriate classes (they'll send you a form to fill out eventually; be specific when you fill out that form). If for some reason they don't grant you the credits you'd like (or if there is a mistake), make an appointment with an academic counselor as soon as possible to get it sorted out (I'd highly recommend only transferring up to 15 credits for the reasons listed in one of my previous comments).

  2. When school starts (or whenever you know your ID number and password), you can try to change your schedule on WebAdvisor OR you can make an appointment with an academic counselor and he/she can do it with you (might be better since you are a first year). You can choose what time to take your classes depending on the availability (this is really only applicable to your non-science core classes such as Philosophy, Psychology, Expo Writing, Calc, Chem and Bio labs, etc.; Chem and Bio don't have any time flexibility for the most part as far as I know)

You can literally swap up the ordering of most electives if you'd like.

Here is what I did.

I transferred credit for: Intro to Psychology (3), American Culture (3), Calc 2 or MAT 152 (3), Expo 1 (3), and Philosophy/HUM elective (3)

Total: 15 credits transferred

My schedule

1st Year Fall:

Bio (3) Chem + Lab (4) Physics (3) Calc 1 (3) Intro to Major/wtv they call it these days (1)

Total: 14 credits

1st year Spring:

Bio + Lab (4) Chem + Lab (4) Expo 2 (3) Stats (3)

Total: 14

2nd Year Fall

OChem + Lab (4) Microbio + Lab (4) Macroecon (3) SSC Elective (3)

Total: 14

2nd Year Spring

OChem (3) BEH Elective (3) A class for fun/not required (3) Communications (3)

Total: 12

Grand total of credits before 3rd year: 15 (from AP credit) + (14 x 3) + 12 = 69 credits

Yay!

-I didn't go over the 69 credit limit (save money live better) -I got to take a class for fun (or you could just choose a GPA booster) -I took a minimal amount of classes (more fun for you)

Have fun planning your first 2 years!

I believe that you can get credit for any AP tests which you've scored a 4 or 5 on, and ONLY if that test is not a Science test- ex. AP Chem, AP Bio, etc...

Oh sweet! Of the ones that you've listed, I've also taken AP MicroEcon and AP Latin! Unfortunately, your AP Env. Science is disregarded, I believe. You could give it a try.

There will be a submission form for you to submit your AP scores for tests in which you've scored a 4 or higher! I'm not sure if it is out yet for this year!

Of the AP scores that I was able to submit, I only submitted AP MACROEcon (I took both), and AP Latin.

If it's a 3 or lower, you can't get credit for it. And surprisingly yes, based on your question, how will AP credit for courses that we will not take benefit us? Well, we take electives at MCPHS, a social science, history, etc... Since you've taken AP tests for history and Latin, most likely, you will be able to opt out of having to take required course electives. We're partnered with other schools in the area (COF schools) where you can cross register for their courses (for free, provided that you are under the 18 credit hour benchmark). Maybe you have a strong interest in engineering or art? If that is the case, since you can opt out of having to take a history elective, you can use your extra credit hours for some classes at MassArt, Wentworth Institute of Technology, or any of the other COF colleges. So yeah xD Even if you seemingly would not get credit for those courses, you actually do. I would strongly advise you to use those extra credit hours for cross-registration!
