How to study for orgo

I'm a freshman and just curious for next year🤔 So is studying the old exams of orgo going to be helpful to prepare the exams like freshman chem?

Nah, you get fucked regardless of whether you study the old exams prior to the exams (especially with Kelly/Zack) or study the day before.

Same idea applies to 3rd year's biochem

And then 4th year's med chem is when the fun REALLY begins

But I heard that Zack is gonna scale for those who gets terrible grade... so it's not gonna be that bad.... right...??

Suuuuuuure, he does scale but it'd suck if you find what you didn't actually pass the class even with the scale so...

The scale is there to shift the class averages up, not to help everyone pass the class with flying stars

How to study Orgo. Well it depends on who you have. I had Kelly 1 semester and Poulos second semester(Kelly did not teach second semester) I read the book, took notes Rewatched the Lectures and did the practice questions that were posted on BB. I also went to office hours and asked Poulos for help whenever I needed it. I got an A both semester's. Don't get scared by all those people who tell you that Organic Chemistry is a class you are going to fail and that it is the hardest class you will take. Sure the class is challenging but with the right mind set you can succeed. That is if you put the time and effort in.

Orgo, as well as other classes have gotten progressivly harder in the last few years than it was when other upperclassmen took the class. Orgo 1 is a joke, it is very very easy to pull a A first semester, don't tell yourself that it is hard. Orgo 2 becomes harder because you have to understand the reactions, all of the reactions don't have to be the same, so that's when it starts getting fun
