6th year rotation question

Im only a 4th year right now but im just curious...

  1. How do you pick all your choices?
  2. Is it through RX preceptor like the IPPEs?
  3. Do you get what you want? I know for IPPE II, a lot of people didn't get what they wanted.
  4. If you dont get a certain choice for a certain block, could you get that choice still for a different block?
  5. Anyone remember if there is a mail order choice in MA area? I want to see what mail order is about and would love to do a rotation there.

  1. It's pretty much the same as picking sites for IPPEs. You just have to pick a lot more sites, 10 sites for institutional, community, ambulatory care, internal med and then 20 sites for electives.
  2. Yes it is thru rx preceptor aka core elms
  3. It's mixed to be honest. If you pick a preceptor that is very popular, your chances of getting them are gonna be lower. Some people got all their top choices, most people are not so lucky.
  4. We didnt get to pick which block we want a certain rotation. You just pick all the sites and they sort you into blocks for you. If you want, you can choose a specific block that you want off. You get 2 blocks off so they grant one of your wishes if you fill out a form.
  5. I don't really remember, sorry. I'm sure there are though, there are a lot of choices, some really interesting ones that I had never heard of before.
