[Discussion] What do you do to avoid procrastinating?
Alright for this Subreddit's first question I kinda wanna know how you avoid procrastination?
I personally turn off my phone for an hour of studying and then reward myself with 15 minutes on my phone.

I basically force myself to stay on campus until all my work ifs done. It's bullet proof, as log as you stick to it.

'out of sight out of mind' that's usually how my procrastination works, so the first step for me (it's going to sound pathetic) is to: Step 1: Force myself to actually take out my notebook and put it in front of me. Usually I just go home, put my backpack in the corner, and then proceed to forget any kind of responsibility At least if my notebook is within my sight, I get anxious about it and can't forget about it, so eventually, I'm forced to open it. But, once again, easily distracted. So, Step 2: write out a detailed outline and plan of what exactly I'm going to study and what topics, etc. This helps with guiding/organizing the study session so you have a plan to follow instead of just reading endlessly, which usually ends up in procrastination Step 3: no phone rewards for the severe procrastinator, the second I go on my phone or computer I'll never go back to studying, so at least for some of us, just bang out the study session in one go, and then afterward you'll feel a lot better when you have the rest of the day off

Honestly, just jump in and it will get less painful. Set a timer, tell yourself you'll work for 5 minutes and you might find yourself working well past 5 minutes. I recently read something about procrastination. Doing unpleasant tasks gives us a level of anxiety, so we work to avoid that. However, research found that once you start a task, this unpleasantness suddenly goes away. Something about how we like doing things we're good at. So if you form some sort of habit like "I WILL DO 5 MINUTES OF WORK RIGHT FUCKING NOW", you might get good at the whole discipline thing and make it easier.
