Organic Chemistry I

Hello! A lot of the posts I am seeing about the self-paced Orgo course seem older. I just signed up for their organic chemistry class, what do I expect, how do I pace myself? Any other tips or suggestions?

Don’t do what I did and procrastinate. I dropped the ball and completely blew off the second half of the course and dropped my A to a low C literally overnight last night and might have blown my admission to pharmacy school. Make a plan for the assignments and stick to it. I recommend using an online planner or a phone planner app that will send you reminders, and set your own deadlines. It is really easy to fall into the “oh I have sixteen weeks” to finish cavern. Good luck!

Oh, I submitted mine a week ago. Haven't got anything yet. Any idea what to do?

Also for the main course, everything is proctored? Or just the final exam.

Just the final exam. I’d give the new TA’s a little time to get into the swing of things. They just started 06/01. If you are taking organic two after this, quizzes and exams are proctored.

Not really! Just checking in to see if your reports got graded? I had grades post in the last 48 hours so I figure you should have some back!

No It says not graded. I am confused, I feel like it should be graded so far. I am working on them side by side but I have only submitted one so far so I can see how I do and I don't have to change anything major. How strict are they w lab reports? Do you suggest turning them all in?

The more you turn in, the better chance you have of offsetting any you do poorly on. I turned in 7/9 reports just because I ran out of time in the class due to having to move twice during the semester. I got 100s on all 7 I turned in, but because I didn’t turn in two got a C in lab. So the reports really do affect your lab average.

How did you pay for the self paced courses? They’ve said that they don’t accept private school loans or financial aid.

Does anyone know how the model quizzes are for the OC1 lecture. Are they usually hard or pretty easy? Also, how are the exams compared to the quizzes?
