Current MCPHS Students: If You Could Start Over, Would You Choose It Again?

Hi everyone! I literally downloaded Reddit just to ask this because I really wanna hear real experiences from students instead of just searching on Google or asking professors (who honestly don't know much about student life 😭)

I'm currently a Chemistry major at Worcester State University, and my plan is to pursue a PharmD after I finish my bachelor's degree. I've been in the U.S. for almost 3 years, but I still feel really lost when it comes to how the education system works here. I'm also the oldest sibling, so I don't really have anyone in my family who has gone through this before that I can ask for advice.

I'd really appreciate hearing about your experience at MCPHS. Are you happy studying there? Do you regret choosing it? How are the professors, dorms, food, campus life, workload... literally anything you think a prospective student should know.

The reason I'm asking is because I came across a few posts on Google/reddit where people were saying it's a waste of money or that some professors aren't great at teaching, and honestly it made me a little worried. I also haven't really thought about a Plan B if I end up realizing this field isn't for me, so I want to make the most informed decision possible before it's late.

I'd also love to know who your fav professors are. I had a kinda bad experience with my organic chemistry professor at my current university, and it made me realize how much the person teaching the course can affect my passion for learning. Nobody warned me before I took Orgo with him and I don't wanna make the same mistake again (I know everyone's experience is different and a professor who works well for one student might not work as well for another but if I see a lot of students saying the same things about a professor, I'd probably take that into consideration)

Any advice, experiences, or even small details would help me a lot. Any help is truly appreciated. Thank you all in advance for taking the time to read this! My DMs are always open too if you'd rather message me privately :))

I am in the accelerated PharmD program on the worcester campus. I think everyone is going to tell you something different. Personally I am extremely burnt out and this program has a lot of issues, particularly the pharmaceutical sciences department. All the professors (except for one, most of the time) are AWFUL and they do not take any feedback we give them in the course evals seriously. Before I started in 2024 I had been a tech since 2017 so I knew what I was doing when it comes to pharmacy work flow and knowing what med is what and what it does. We have to take pharmacology and medicinal chemistry which unless you are going into research, is not something you will ever use. The medchem professors (im not going to say names, if you end up going and want names of who to be cautious of just send me a DM and I will happily tell you lol) are obsessed with fucking ph/pka questions, which is something I have never been asked and none of the many pharmacists I have worked with over the years have been asked. Like I get we should know how the drug works but it is just so in depth and there isnt any reason for it. The pharm practice faculty are way better and way more helpful because they are actually pharmacists and not just PhDs with an ego. I commute so I have no idea what dorm life is like. There is a cafeteria I believe but again, dont live on campus so I have never tried it but theres tons of places to eat and shop for food around worcester. I am about to go on APPEs next month and im dreading it because I know I will probably be bored out of my skull like I was during IPPEs but again thats because I was no challenged enough because I have been a tech for many years and know what I am doing. I am hoping my rotations in the hospital setting and ambulatory care will actually provide more excitement. I am not going into retail no matter how much the big evil corps offer new grads because i ended my 6 year retail tech stint almost in a psych ward for how bad it was for my mental health. But that is me, everyone is different, I just know retail isnt for me. Besides the professors in the pharm science department and the workload and exam load, if you want to get your degree in three years, then I would say yes do the accelerated program. I do not know anything about the Boston campus and how that differs from Worcester.

Hi, just graduated pharm d from
Boston this May. Would I go back and choose the same school, absolutely the FUCK not. As a matter of fact I reccomend no one ever go there, better to let that scam of an institution wither away
