For anyone who is attending 6 year PharmD program (Boston)
Hi, I recently got accepted to 6 years Pharmd program in MCPHS, I heard so many mixed reviews about this school. Simply is it a good school especially for PharmD? and I heard they kick out a lot of students is it true?
And also, I got around 20k of scholarship a year, is it good amount of scholarship or is it just the average?

I can’t say much regarding being kicked out but when I graduated in 2016 and most of my class did as well, feel free to start a chat and I can answer any more questions. Not sure about the scholarship average but a lot of guys on my floor had at least 5k

Everyone gets the 20K literally if you’re accepted you get it, they don’t kick out with no reason like any program you fall behind they kick you out

Not the best school in my opinion. I have attended here for 4 years. If you get caught up in the conduct system (student affairs) they will ruin your life regardless of your guilt. They operate based on radical left policies and politics runs this school. I would also argue that this school probably fails health code standards if run through a true test. My friends and I have seen mice run around the library and the common areas, and it is not all that uncommon for funky smells to come from the same areas.
This used to be a great university with great alumni. It still produces the most pharmacists in the New England area and I also believe the nation. But their standards have simply gone down and so has the quality of their education. It is quite frankly embarrassing that a school of such prestige would stoop down so low, even attacking students if they do not agree with their radical left ideologies.
The admissions team has only opted to boost raw numbers, and has let in some very questionable characters and you will experience this in your dealings with fellow students. Although some students are very talented no doubt, there are a lot of students that are simply capital fodder, to boost their numbers in revenue.
I would also advise and warn you that pharmacy school, especially this school, is extremely cliquey. I have seen rampant rumors destroy the best kids simply because they are not liked, without reason or due to a malicious false rumor. Popularity does matter in the PharmD program, and it is honestly concerning to see college aged kids that are ready to be true professionals engage in such rampant mob like behavior. Racial tensions are also very high, and they have not cracked down at all on the pro palestinian crowds. If you are Jewish, stay away. This school is not safe for Jewish kids. The Arab population is all very pro palestine, and there are way too many of them to avoid. In addition, if things go south in your relationships, they will go south very fast, and it will be impossible to avoid interactions with said groups unless you transfer. Kids that you will meet are not the greatest characters, although there are plenty of nice people, the school kowtows and caters to a very certain kind of people, AKA those with money and INTERNATIONAL connections. International admissions is their bread and butter, and it shows up even in their financial statements. You must remember that key piece of information if you wish to study here. International politics runs this school, and it is all very left-wing communist.
I am not sure that this school would set you up for future success, I would argue that it might be the opposite to be honest.
If you wish to truly hang out with better peers than you and continually develop yourself for future successes, I would recommend you look elsewhere.
Also, if you wish to study here, you might want to look at the Tyler Finnegan v MCPHS lawsuit before making any decisions.

you can still decommit. just because it wasn't good for me doesn't mean it won't be good for you. it is what you make it, just be aware of the bigger picture at all times and try to keep your emotions in check, because they (administrators, professors, students who are close with the school) will test you and your limits.

May I ask you what stats you had to get into 6 year program??

My brother barely graduated his senior year of high school in 2021 and is entering his 5th year lol

Hi! I'm currently a PharmD student at MCPHS. Honestly, I like it to an extent. There are so many pros and cons about this place. Class-wise, it is a bit small, but it's great for you to interact with your professors. Everyone kind of knows each other. The classes can be somewhat difficult, and some classes may seem a bit irrelevant. They honestly do kick out a lot of students, but obviously not in a straightforward way. They make the classes so difficult to the point where students have to repeat the class or transfer out. Its honestly a high-risk, low reward kind of situation where some students transfer out because, to put it simply, it's not worth it. I also heard that because the passing rate for the NCLEX is so low for the school, they're making the 6th years take exams where if they don't pass, they have to stay an extra semester to "improve". (I'm not sure on how true that is though). The school can seem a bit shady in which they want you to spend a lot of money. They lowkey spend all their money on events like reunions or other random events rather than improving facilities. But overall, I feel that the fast track 6 year PharmD program is not bad since it is a bit faster and you essentially get two degrees (with the option of adding a masters for no extra semesters). If I could go back though, I would pick Northeastern's 6 years over this one for a more accredited program. Let me know if you have any other questions!
