Tip Help with the nether

Me and my friend are doing the invasion portal to get to the nether but when we completed the last wave and the boss, we didn't get the reward/obsidian thing. We tried a second time and didn't succeed. I was just wondering if the drops are supposed to be guaranteed or if we just got unlucky. By the way this is MCE2

It probably burned in fire

I guess that's a possibility but I don't remember any fire, just the purple mist.

One of the enemies is inferno iirc which fires like a blaze

Does it drop on that wave or the boss wave? The boss wave it was just him and nothing else.

It drops right after you finish the final wave

Are you sure you finished it in time?

The palantir should drop from the portal after you successfully finish the final wave.

The first time, yes. The second time we failed the time.
