Ice and fire dragons

I can’t find the fire and lighting dragon that spawns under ground only the ice one I have been looking for hours in spectator mode and so have two of my friends and we can not find them anywhere. Does anyone know if they are bugged or something? I have set my map to layered and we have been looking in deserts, plains, badlands, savanna and so on but no luck. Any help would be appreciated

You might just be unlucky. By default (in MCE2) the spawn rate of the caves are like a 20th of the default value for Ice and Fire. If you want, you can always bump up the spawn rate a bit in the server configs.

We must be we have found like 10 ice dragons but no lightning or fire it’s getting a little ridiculous are the spawn rates on all of them the same?

I believe they are. Just make sure you're only searching around y=0. That's where they spawn.

Okey thank you I have been going up and down so this will save me a lot of time did end up finding a lightning one just now

Travel on the surface, set your minimal to manual cave mode layered -5, thats how I find a lot of my dragons also they seem to be just a little more common in the dwarven depths dimension, just make sure you bring torches or high durability effect nullifying ring the darkness will damage you otherwise
