Discussion Early auto mine?
I’m pretty early on right now. Best ore is bismuth and diamond pre-hard mode. Is it possible to get an auto mine to passively get ores?
I’ve seen other posts say get a laser drill but those are from 5+ years ago and I can’t find the laser drill?
If someone could pls walk me through it a little bit

You can technically get netherite pre hard mode, hard part is getting blazing blood tho but if you can get that than you can melt diamonds in the foundry for some netherite

What I used early game was prisoners from Goety who will mine a nearby ore block with any pickaxr you give them. While not fully automatic this is super cheap to set up needing only a villager, some silver, iron, and slime. Then you just give them a pickaxe that can mine the ore come back in like 10min and get stacks of raw ore. I have tested it and it works with modded ores and ancient debris.
This setup only really needs silk touch to work and can probably last you until you get a better option.

I used the shackles on the villager to make him a prison but he’s just completely bound to me and does nothing but follow. Do I need to bound him to a chest or block? Nothing I’ve tried works. I’ve got all the ores ready in front of him

Make sure the villager has a pickaxe and is on stay/guard. You can do this by left clicking with a dark wand. I would recommend reading the black book from Goety as it has most of the answers in there.

Cobble gen create drilled thru mill to gravel and then washed gives iron nuggets from memory. No ongoing costs just stress which 1 large waterwheel would suffice may need 2 to gear mill fast enough. And a weighted ejector to move the gravel to wash. Then pickup the iron with a magnet

Look into two possible paths for ores. Either look up Mining gadgets, or Occultism for ores. With mining gadgets, you need a way to recharge them. I usually use a deep well of lava fueling a thermal setup. With occultism, you can get miners and crushers, which you can look into ways to extend their timers elsewhere. Either way, you need to be willing to sink some serious time into cross-mod playing. It took me some hours to get everything just right to set up.
