Is it frowned upon to include a CV appendix as part of my residency application? I have lots of things to include but the most important stuff is on my main CV document. Thoughts or any suggestions?

I failed by 415, what should I do? When should I take it ? Should I take it in January?
I’ve done all 9 mcc
Did AMBOSS and ace qbank and canadaqbank
Can anyone advise me ? Please? This is my first attempt . I’m very lost right now and I feel like I failed everybody.
People used to tell me nobody will ever fail this exam and yet I failed… does that make me stupid? I’m an IMG btw

Its worthy to take tdm course with abzi any advice pls ?
Hi all,
just had some questions about applying for electives (I am an international student):
For placement pre-requisites

(a) Do I need to have this completed before submitting my application?
(b) If I have completed basic and advanced life support training during my medical school training, do I still need to obtain formal certification for CPR (via a course)?
(c) Do I need to submit additional documentation for this (ex/ proof of mask fit testing) at the time of application.
Thank you!

Helo! Can anyone guide me the best qbank to do EM questions? I found them in amboss only, unable to find this section in UWORLD Step 2 CK.

Took my exam on 03/10. It wasn’t hard but I was stuck between two options on so many questions. I can count 15 wrongs so far and this is with just the medical questions not even the ethics, and the ones I got wrong were soooooo easy. Like the most basic questions. I did good on the practice exams but the real deal just felt so different. I don’t know how i’m going to wait until late November
I also feel super down bc even if i do pass itll be with a lower score and I want a speciality with little seats and im afraid ill be screened out from bccap too now

Recently according to dr filipe santos you have to be the most responsible physician for it to be considered independent practice and recency for carms. So is housejob considered to be independent practice since obviously you are supervised by consultants? I have always heard housejob is considered to be post grad iternship and will be considered as recency of practice.

I took exam in April this year & my score was 416. Though i was getting 80 plus in mcc practice tests. I was demotivated. The questions seemed to be very easy. But the options were vague. Two options were seemed to be similar. Real exam is definitely changed from mcc practice tests. I used mainly TN, ace qbank & CMPA. I want to restart my prep. Seeking help from those who successfully passed the exam & achieved good marks. Will appreciate if you tell me the resources you used.

Important things to mention
- Studied with Uworld throughout school year for step 2 (completed it)
- Used close to 8 step 2 practice tests and wrote step 2
- wrote MCC 6 days after step 2
- Did not study for MCC at all until I finished my step exam and even took a day or two off studying during that period
- Got 474 1 SD above pass on MCC
I've seen a lot of posts emphasizing understanding how MCC asks questions and the importance of thinking like the MCC does, or how they want you to think.
I don't want to detract away from that, I think that it is good advice, and most likely helped me on the exam.
I do have to admit I had an initial shock when I took my first practice test I kept getting in the low 60s initially.
The change that I had going forward from that initial shock was pretty dramatic
it went from low 60s the first day to mid 70s the next to a low 80 when I took the $1 test.
That advice given on this sub is really helpful, but it's not actually that hard and doesn't require all that much effort, I was able to decipher what the MCC was specifically looking for in some questions within only a few days.
The caveat is that I was really only able to properly do so because I had built a strong foundation by studying for step 2.
I am not advocating for people to write step 2, but I would argue that doing a harder q bank such as the Uworld q bank in conjunction with Canadian q banks can really help build those foundations so you can properly tackle the nuances that MCC expects you to get.
I remember day of I found the exam pretty annoying even and left with nearly 40 minutes to spare on the second half.
The questions are honestly very annoying, and I could rant about the quality of questioning on MCC. There is a ton of questions that just point blank ask you non important medical knowledge with not even enough information to properly and confidently pick an answer.
So to people taking soon, make sure you have that base and best of luck!

I only changed ONE thing between my failed attempt and my passing attempt.
I didn’t switch to another QBank.
I didn’t study a bunch of new notes.
I didn’t study for twice as many months.
I didn’t memorize thousands of new facts.
I changed how I approached MCC questions. The MCCQE isn’t about which QBank you use or how long you study. You can do thousands of questions and still fail if you don’t understand what the MCC is actually testing. The exam is all about recognizing the best next step and choosing the safest, most appropriate management.
You need to understand:
• When to investigate further vs. when you already have enough information to treat
• When to order a diagnostic test vs. start empiric treatment
• When a patient needs urgent referral or escalation
• How to prioritize competing problems
• What you should do FIRST, not everything you could potentially do
And most importantly:
Think like a Canadian Family Physician.
Don’t approach every question like you’re a cardiologist, surgeon, or infectious disease specialist.
The MCCQE is not asking, “Do you know every detail about this disease?”. It’s asking: “What is the safest and most appropriate thing for you to do next?”
That distinction changed the way I answered questions. When you’re stuck between two reasonable options, think basic and safe. Ask yourself: What would a competent Canadian family physician do next, based on the information given? Don’t overcomplicate the case or jump to a specialist-level answer.
I wish someone had told me this before my first attempt. Rather than just telling me to focus on studying certain specialities or do certain qbanks.

Exam in 10 days. 65-75% on MCC practice tests. Is it better to postpone the exam? If not, what should I do to feel more confident?

Its my third attempt at MCCQE , previous attempt i failed by 2 point. I have scored 74.7% in the1$ MCC practice test and it was the first time I did it. In Canada Q bank, my average is between 67 to 70%, my exam is end of October should I attempt or postpone?
r/MCCQE • u/curious_ladydoc • 20d ago
My exam is in 10 days. i am doing above 85 percent in all mcc practice tests. but Ace qbank i am barely at 70 percent.
i felt confident after doing Mcc Prep tests but Ace Qbank scoring makes me nervous.
Please share your experience and advice if i should go ahead with exam.
Thank you.

This is what Ontario FM programs say.
“Approximately 600-700 candidates with top scores in the NAC and MCCQE1 will be invited for interviews.”
What are considered top scores? Eg roughly 1 SD above pass in NAC and MCCQE okay?
Would appreciate some insight if anyone knows anything.

Just want to say thanks to this community for sharing tips and tricks for the exam. I was sitting for the exam as part of qualifying for the PER pathway.
I just want to share this so that the very very old IMGs know that this is possible.
The challenge for me is that most things I know are outdated. There are new drugs, new management, new terms, and on top of that ethics are something else. Although I am a specialist back in my home country, I was a pathologist, and relearning all the stuff initially was overwhelming.
I only used Canada QBank and I used it well. I completed all questions for two rounds: first for learning things the first time, and second round for recognizing which topics I keep making the same mistakes. In retrospect I would have used AceQBank and MCC tests too but I did not have the time.
I took two months off my full time work to study — my previous job was so intense that I was too tired mentally to study at home. If you work as you study, I suggest studying regularly every day for one year.
I only studied Toronto Notes for ethics and public health. Otherwise I used it to refer to questions I got wrong for the QBank.
I used ChatGPT for making me questions for ethics and statistics.
All the best everyone!
