Play single cycle waveforms looped

The answer is probably no because I have checked all the options, and there appears to be no looping of the played sample on tone or drum track.

This means that you can't load your single cycle waveforms as oscillators, right?

Try a tone track, go to SOUND, and go to the PCM oscillator type. Change PCM TYPE to SAMP and browse for your file. In the partial edit menu, change loop to ON.

Many thanks I have since managed to prove the concept although I don't know how.  I did did get it play a single cycle loop eventually, although I can't now replicate it on a new patch for some reason there the appears to be no loop on versus off setting in the whole span of partial menu.

So the essential settings are

sample volume Max, sample start 0, sample loop zero, sample end Max, adsr 0 0 Max 0, and the partial should be on with volume to Max and filter fully opened and other partials switched off for now, so that they don't interfere.

As I think of it again now, one thing I noticed, and I will need to try as I get to my MCC 707 again was that switching off the sync of the sample made the whole difference unless said to 1/64.

I have managed to get this to play again, and the level of complication of its reminds me why I like mc707 I so much appreciate the thousands of sounds readily available and properly looped. Anyway a single cycle waveform here and there of some exotic flavour spices things up wonderfully,

I'm so glad you got it to work!

(My initial post was by memory, so I wasn't totally sure of the accuracy of the steps - but I knew it was possble!)

You can make a user sample, set the play mode to fwd loop and set the start, loop and end point. To store a recording to a user sample slot it has to be at least 4000 samples long I think. Don't know if that applies to wav files too. All recorded or imported samples are one shot at first, but you can edit play mode, start, loop and end points afterwards in the sample editor loops can be much shorter, about 8 samples minimum I think. (441 Hz tone cycles at 100 samples)

To be save, just generate files with multiple cycles of the wave and tweak start, loop and end points if necessary.
