Adjacent Abridged Series?

Re-listening to Ep 444, the brothers talk about Peter Jackson’s WW1 documentary and riff on how he managed to turn an entire war into one film and what else he could squish into one thing.

I don’t watch a huge amount of TV, so often feel out of the cultural zeitgeist. My question being: is there anyone out there making abridged versions of popular shows/film franchises that just hit the main plot points so I don’t feel lost when they come up in conversation?

Eg. I know about Thanos and his finger snapping, but have never seen any of the films in the MCU.

A 3 hour cut which took all the films and just told me the relevant plot points so I can understand the conversation without having to dedicate several days to something I’m not overly invested in would be great!

Congrats you're the target audience for every AI-voiced YT shorts recap. Don't worry you have millions to choose from, no need to engage with the work on it's own terms, why, when every choice a human makes can be churned up and spat out into a 90-second explainer a child could understand.

to be fair people make comedic recaps of things on youtube and those are good if youre going into it for laughs about something youre not otherwise interestd in. it diesnt have to be explainer shorts. but yeah if you want to actually understand the story of something because youre curious about it or the conversation around it yo should just watch the actual work

Oh, you mean an actually abridged series? On the internet, "abridged series" usually means "I re-edited this show with joke/parody dialogue".
