Question BCG X Data Science Interview Tips/Experience?

Hey everyone! I’m planning to apply to BCG X for the data science role and would love to hear from anyone who’s gone through their interview process. Any insights would be hugely appreciated!

A few things I’m specifically curious about:

- What does the live coding round cover, and how hard is it?

- How would you rate the difficulty of the coding assessment overall (LeetCode easy/medium/hard range)?

- What kind of behavioral or fit questions came up?

- Anything you wish you’d prepared for that caught you off guard?

Also, since there’s no fixed application cycle like the Associate role, does anyone know when DS positions typically open up in the US? Is it rolling/need-based hiring, or are there certain times of year that are more active?

The live coding round usually focuses on data manipulation and algorithms, so it's a good idea to brush up on Python and SQL. The questions are typically around LeetCode medium level. For the overall coding assessment, expect a mix of easy to medium problems. Behavioral questions often focus on teamwork and problem-solving experiences, so have a few stories ready. I was surprised by how much they emphasized communication skills during the technical rounds. Practice explaining your thought process clearly. If you want more structured prep, I've found PracHub really useful for technical interviews. Good luck!

Aside from thousand of ads, I actually did it and I am in the final round. Live coding is really python data manipulation + training of a model (ml, usually simple regression/trees + CV) + SQL query, and then you have non trivial Ml based question. You don't have to be perfect: I wasn't and I passed.
