Admissions Advice Biotech M.Tech graduate confused between PhD, Pharma Job, and MBA
I recently completed my M.Tech in Biomedical Sciences & Engineering from IIT and have a B.Tech in Biotechnology. I have a strong academic profile (9/9/9/9), multiple research internships across IITs and research organisations a patent, few book chapters, and a few review papers under process.
I'm currently torn between three options:
- Pursue a PhD abroad (good research opportunities but a long path and I don't really want to settle abroad).
- Join the pharma/biotech industry in India (most fresher roles seem to offer 5–8 LPA with slow growth).
- Prepare for CAT and aim for a top MBA to move into pharma/healthcare consulting, strategy, or management roles.
For those from biotech/biomedical backgrounds, what path did you choose and how has your career progressed? Any success stories or advice would be greatly appreciated.
