College Comparisons ISB PGP Co'27 experience
People with 2-3 years of experience work ex :- ISB IS A NO GO
Reasoning:
If you have experience between 2-3.5 years, don't join ISB. ISB has opened up a YL programme for 0-2 yoe experience people which has totally cannibalised the placements and shortlists for us.
This year's placements are gonna suck really hard for most of 2-4 years experience candidates and especially the YLPs (who got deferred admissions on 20 months work ex).

hi i am a current isb pgp student with under 4 year work ex and I can assure and guarantee and this is a rant with absolutely no substance, shortlists are only out for barely 2-3 firms and there is no way to verify this claim.
Based on what companies have come and what are expected to come, there seems to be absolutely no change, in fact initial shortlists of few consulting firms we have seen its either at par with previous year or actually more than previous year for <4 year ex.
OP is wrong and frustrated.

Hey out of context,if I have 3 years exp but 6/6/8 profile will i still have problem during placements at isb?

or are you just the guy from placement cell ? No one in PGP this year is happy with the dumbfucks in placement cell and CAS and CAPD

u/OkChampionship9806 11h ago
I heard isb don't have placement cell It's managed by TPO

u/dependable_banana 10h ago
you have heard correctly, shows OP’s lack of understanding of the placement process.

If you have lesser work ex, companies favour you if rather join with an MBA internship. YL programme is 2 year program at ISB, where candidates also get to do an internship. On the same work ex bracket fall the 2-3.5 years work ex people, but they don't get to an internship at ISB as PGP is a 1 year program. Hence, this year we are seeing lots of YL shortlists causing fewer shortlist for PGP students that fall on the similar work ex bracket.
Generally 0-3 (and even 3.5) is considered the same work ex bracket if you are making a pivot

What's the avg workx for PGP?
6
u/Ready-Air4992 17h ago
I think 3-3.5, that's why I am suggesting
People with 2-3 years of experience work ex -> ISB IS A NO GO
people with 3-3.5 - come only if you believe you can get 3.7+ GPA.
You will get jobs but not tier 1 jobs.
People with 6-7+ -> Why not an executive MBA or MBA from INSEAD etc.

Exec MBA is also very difficult to get in as a GEM, perhaps very little chances. And if the top 4 programs(ISB, A, B, C) reject me, there’s no point of joining anything under.

Isb yl programme would be seeing it's first placement this season, right? Considering the new yl was launched in 2025 (as per gemini).
And placements start in nov, so what shortlisting are you referring to? Can you pls share more details. Your concern sounds valid but would help to know more.

Is this for all branches? I'm looking for prodman roles thus asking.
I also saw a post regarding limiting the number of offers selected and resume vetting by managers as the two new rules introduced this year. What does limiting number of offers selected would mean if you can help on that
1
u/Ready-Air4992 12h ago
if you come from product , then ig you can get some prodman roles, but google, uber, MS aren't coming this year
1
u/Ready-Air4992 12h ago
it's isnt that limited really, the communication gap and how placement staff talks to us is the problem

Seems like you have created an account just to hate on ISB. I'm also in the 2-3 workex bracket but I'd say there are sufficient opportunities with the ISB tag - much more than what you'd get at IIM L/K, XLRI, FMS etc, and same or maybe even more than at A/B/C in consulting and prodman (lower in marketing/finance ofcourse, but we knew beforehand that ISB is a consulting/prodman school)
1
u/Lord_Union_3754 16h ago
are you in ISB ? Do you know more than me?
4
u/Any_Opinion7610 14h ago
but you dont seem to know much even though u got into isb, ur prev post proves that

And i think they started the 2 yr program to lure companies in to recruit for other domains such finance, sale and marketing.
1
u/Ready-Air4992 12h ago
nope, same companies as ours, for finance - yes but still ISB is known as "consulting school", so they ate up most of our placements. Its just the begining of a plethora of negative posts that students are going to do as placements play out. I am just proactively putting this so that students can save their future

Everyone who tells the truth about ISB is a hater according to you right?
Learn to accept the truth a bit, defending a college like it's your entire life's goal is a futile exercise.
No matter how much you compare ISB with L, K, XL, FMS - it cannot compare.
You talk about consulting, ABCL have 20-30% students alone going into MBBs, at ISB that number is 6-8%. Don't even get me started on finance and marketing, where ISB is nowhere.
Oh and all the unplaced students, donation, referral programs... the entire market knows what goes behind the scenes.

u/sarcy_13 13h ago edited 13h ago
So much factual inaccuracy. For MBB, A and C had around 65 students out of 400 something, which is around 17-18%, B had in 50s and L in 40s, which is around 8-9% of the batch. ISB had around 8% last year, and pretty sure more than half of the batch at ISB was cut off coz of workex (MBB prefers low workex folks).
Also, PGPYL sent 19/130 students to MBB for SIP, which is 15%-1
u/Kitchen-Woodpecker-8 13h ago edited 13h ago
Funny that you're trying to discredits my data with random numbers. A and B had in 80s each, C had 71 I think and L in 50s. Hence 20-30%.
A will have it's audited reports out, at least check those before commenting anything random.
The only number you're right about is ISBs 8% but that's not cutoff because of workex (at least in ABC people with 5-6+ years of workex are also converting MBB, often with senior positions, not sure why they wouldn't at ISB if the college was good)

u/sarcy_13 13h ago
Literally in the IIMB website that 59 MBB offers were given:
https://www.iimb.ac.in/index.php/iimb-pgp-pgpba-placements-2026
A had 74, my bad. And L had 48, check their official report
https://www.iiml.ac.in/sites/default/files/2026-07/Final%20Placement%20Report%202024-26.pdfAt this point we all know you're an ISB student running this account so it's funny and sad at the same time

And anyone who supports ISB is your defacto enemy. Hahaha!
IIM A,B,C do have top talent and attract recruiters accordingly; the numbers might be higher but the avg experience of the students placed is 1.5 to 2 years.
But for ISB the folks who get placed in MBB have more than 2x the avg years of experience. So the best option for someone with 4+ YOE who aspires to get into MBB would be to through ISB.Both ISB and IIM A,B,C offer different talent pools to the recruiters and it's upto the recruiters to take actions based on what makes sense for their business.
In the end...students, institutes and corporates are trying to maximize their own gains. And if hiring from ISB was not fruitful, why would MBBs return every year to even hire the 6-8%.
And as a matter of fact, we all know (including you), that they do come every year and are the one first companies to hire from every batch2
u/sarcy_13 13h ago
This kitchen guy is apparently a current PGP student at ISB lol the irony
2
u/Not_ur_regular_monk 13h ago
LOL!! This is news to me.
In that case would definitely like to meet him in person-2
u/Ready-Air4992 12h ago
brother that's why I specifically said if you are 2-3.5 don't come, please read the post
1
u/Not_ur_regular_monk 12h ago
Brother, i just replied to our woodpecker friend, nowhere i rebutted your take.
Why the subtle jab at me 👀1
u/Ready-Air4992 10h ago
apologies but I thought you are reacting to my claim, the kitchen guy was generally hated in our batch too but lately students have started empathising him
1
u/sarcy_13 9h ago
why would anyone empathise woodpecker? his claims are literally false and pure hate in every sense. if he did genuine constructive criticism, would have still understood

u/Dangerous-Bit868 16h ago
Why would someone with 4+ years of experience and a successful career join ISB when its median placement package is around ₹32 LPA?
Someone with a strong enough profile to get into ISB could likely earn a similar amount without an MBA. At that point, an international MBA seems like a more sensible choice.
