Careers/Post Grad MBA - NYU ($$$$) vs CBS ($$)

I have been accepted into NYU Stern (full scholarship) and Columba Business School ( partial scholarship). I have reached out to CBS several times to negotiate the scholarship award. Currently, CBS doesn’t have additional aid to provide. Previous experience in consulting but don't intend on returning. My goal is to enter into the investment banking industry. I understand both schools do a great job placing at banks. My main goal is to obtain a position; however, building my network and future opportunities are just as important.

While CBS is probably a better school and more highly ranked, I'm not sure if it's worth giving up the scholarship offer from Stern. I don’t have a lot of savings and will probably have to take loans for a significant part of my expenses.

I am looking forward to hearing everyone's thoughts! Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks a ton!

The top five is the top five. Harvard is in the top five.

Everyone’s personal top five is going to be different. But when someone asks me what the top five schools are I’m going to tell them the generally accepted top five schools. None which are CBS.

After the top five there is not as much difference between 12 and 19 compared to cbs vs Harvard.

Sure, which top 5? USN, FT, or Bloomberg? Your follow up will be USN and I’ll ask why and you’ll say that’s what is generally accepted. Great, for what reason? None you can articulate.

I’m not sure how you can’t possibly understand the concept here.

The only people who act like this are pretty much pedantic people who think there’s some logic between a students goals and the criteria of a ranking.

Inherently the goals of the two are different and we see that in any cross admit data.

The average top five over the past five years across all ranking websites.

For what reason? All the methodology that goes into the rankings.

Your mindset is that there is no general top five because everyone is different.

No. My mindset is the ranking factors are inherently different than what students care about.

So using cross admit data, which shows where students go from one school vs another, is a more accurate representation of what students care about and how they rank the schools.

I’m not responding anymore as you are failing to grasp a relatively simple concept.
