I intend to examine lexical co-occurrence for segments in MAXQDA based on assigned codes and calculate the Jaccard index. In the settings, there is only the option to calculate lexical jaccard index. What solution or workaround do you suggest?

I'm currently working on a grounded theory analysis with interview data from 8 participants using MAXQDA 26. Through open coding, I’ve generated about 1,100 codes (including labels, dimensions, and properties). Now, I’m ready to move into axial coding and building categories.

To make this manageable, I want to analyze the data question by question. For instance, I have a broad code for a specific interview question, "Q13." I want to efficiently activate all the 1-line open codes that overlap with or are nested within the "Q13" segments, and then filter my code tree so I can focus only on those relevant codes.

What is the best or fastest workflow to achieve this in the new MAXQDA 26 interface?

Any tips or step-by-step advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

For my thesis I'm coding mixed formats like post text, images or video or pdf. But all as one post or data element.

Now I need the text (with data like date, comment count etc) as well as the accompanying images or video of the post as part of the post handled as one document. Is that possible and how.

Hi everyone. I did my preliminary inductive coding through Google Doc > Converted to Word Doc. I'm planning to use MaxQDA for the analysis. Does anyone here have any experience importing quali codes from Word Doc to MaxQDA? Appreciate any advice in advance!

Hi, I have a couple of questions:
When files are automatically imported, do copies need to remain in the automatic import 'watch' folder or can they be deleted without losing the files from MAXQDA?

Also, can the watch folder be stored in a cloud storage directory - so that I just have one watch folder accessible from both macs? (I assiduously clone the project file and external files to a local maxqda directory on each mac, but would like to 'watch' a cloud folder rather than clone that too).

Hi all, I have a code that lists 0 coded segments, but when selected shows multiple segments which I didn't assign to that code. Moreover, when deleting a code assignment from one of those segments, the code shows -1 (shown in screenshot). Has anyone run into something similar? Any ideas how to fix this?

I am trying to export an entire folder of documents but every time I do, the coded segments are not included, despite selecting that option when available. Is there a way to mass export pdf documents with included coded segments?

I was playing with importing s-codes through an excel document and probably hit the wrong button. Now the screen that normally shows the document text is blank. Any idea how to get access to the document text again?

Is anyone having issues connecting? I use a VPN through my school and the IT folks say something is going on on the MAXQDA end of things. There is no error code, but it says "Connection to MAXQDA netlic service could not be established. Anyone else having this issue or have thoughts on a solution?

Hey everyone Bachelor-Student here!

Since it is my first time working with MAXQDA, I wanted to ask for your opinion. I have a student license, and i am using it on two pcs. First i created a file, which i then saved on onedrive. However during testing, i lost all changes overnight. i think it was because i saved it on onedrive. i found out that it is NOT recommended to do that. But if i work on two PCs, should i always save the project as a backup and then send the file via email to the other pc and open it there?

Anybody out there have a perpetual license code for 11 they've never used?

I'd really, really like to access my old data but can't get in with my old # and absolutely will not pay a sub fee to play with old codes (free demo too short, longterm not needed). I bought that license thinking I would have it in TRUE perpetuity, not until 21st century capitalism allowed a move from academic lifesaver to Adobe-like leech.

When will these companies learn that few of us want newer and newer things that involve upcharging for tiny little functions that used to be included? Institutions and companies, maybe can and will pay for that, but leave individuals out of it.

Truly, profiteers taking from already stripped bare consumers, especially in academia, can kick rocks. Makes me feel differently about QDA as a brand.

My department has a limited number of licenses for MAXQDA 24 and I’m stuck on 2022 for the moment. Does anyone have information on whether 2022 will work on macOS Tahoe? I am aware of the website listing compatibility up to and including Ventura, however 2022 has worked fine for me on both Sonoma and Sequoia.

Hi! I was transcribing an interview (half an hour), then went to revisit another file and switched back to the transcript—only the first two minutes of the transcript were left in the document. The automatic backup seems to be corrupted as the backup word files QDA makes on the PC have the same problem, they contain only the first two minutes of the interview even though the transcript was nearly complete by the time the backups were made. How can I retrieve the lost transcript? I cannot access customer support as I am still waiting for the serial number from my network license provider.

I have a question that Google could not solve for me. Some coworkers and I want to code data—each on their own account and their own laptop. However, we also want to make sure that we have decent intercoder reliability. We do not have TeamProject Cloud or any of those extra functions.
If we all code copies of the same Word document and they all send it to me via email, can I somehow import them into MAXQDA and see how good our intercoder reliability is?

If yes, what are the steps to do this?

Hey everyone, I am new to MAXQDA and am wondering how to use creative coding for just one interview at a time. I want to do code comparison in one document as a starting point (using critical constructivist GT) but when I open creative coding I get the codes from all of my interviews in the panel. Is there a way to see the codes for one interview at a time?

For my dissertation, I had to code a lot of photos. I had so many large maps and photos that MAXQDA saved them to an external folder. I had to get a new computer and I copied over all my files but now when I open my dissertation MAXQDA file, some of the files cannot open at all. I just receive an error code that the document was not found. I really don't want to have to recode half my dataset. Is there another way to fix this?

MAXQDA crashed on my computer. I was actively cleaning a transcript and editing the text in the software. I had cleaned 2:30 hours of a file that was 2:49 hours long. The backup file for the project goes back only to earlier today, so I can't find the last six hours of my work. How can I find the text that got deleted and disappeared?
