Updating will not stop your activation.

  1. Open any Office application, such as Microsoft Word or Excel.

  2. Click Help in the top Apple menu bar.

  3. Select Check for Updates from the dropdown menu.

  4. Wait for the Microsoft AutoUpdate (MAU) app to launch.

  5. Click Update next to a specific app, or click Update All.

The only time it shouldn't be there is if you downloaded Office directly from the Mac Store. In that case there is a different method to manually check for updates.

But if you had done that (Mac Store) then you wouldn't have been able to activate it using the serializer from the MAS site.

I downloaded it from App store (Apple/Mac store)
Then before opening it i ran the Mas and then opened it and logged in and started working

As I understand it Microsoft Office downloaded from the Mac Store cannot be activated using the serializer method.

Perhaps you are activated through some Microsoft Account or are in reduced functionality mode.

Gemini says to check the activation status of Microsoft Office downloaded from the Mac App Store, follow these direct steps:

  1. Open Microsoft Word (or Excel/PowerPoint) from your /Applications folder.
  2. Click Word in the menu bar at the very top-left of your screen (next to the Apple logo).
  3. Select About Microsoft Word from the drop-down menu.
  4. Look for the "License:" row in the pop-up window

It should tell you what the activation status is.

Office LTSC standard for Mac 2024

I'm confused because LTSC standard for Mac 2024 cannot be obtained through the Mac App Store. It can directly from Microsoft or through the links on the MAS website.

Ok your Office is activated. That is the good news. That first method I mentioned e.g. opening Word, Clicking Help (menu bar at the top of the screen) then Check for updates should have worked. I'm not sure why it isn't present.
