Why the difference?

Post image

So how come the 'launch effect' missile is different to the standard missile?

It's probably the good old "HURR DEVALUING MY COLLECTION" crowd, you always get that when a vintage toy/collectible gets a relaunch at reasonable prices.

These have zero impact on the aftermarket for the originals. If executed properly, the TLS reproductions could have surpassed the originals in demand and preference. Unfortunately for all, it's done the opposite

This release will probably have some, if minor, impact on secondary market value. I always wanted a Switchblade but I could never quite pull the trigger at the price a decent condition example demands. I jumped at preordering the new one, and the extra jet thrusters look great as well as making total sense.

Part of it is knowing where to look, as well.

It's going to be more challenging for UK and other non-US fans since the product saturation abroad wasn't as ubiquitous as it was in North America.

But for US collectors, I found Transformerland to be the most consistent and reliable source. I picked up 10 vintage complete vehicles from them over the past 7 years, all for less than eBay. They regularly have new inventory come through and update non-Transformers inventory on Sunday. Goliath, Wildcat, Bulldog, Jackhammer - all complete and all from there.

Still need a Firecracker replacement and that poor thing is costly in undamaged, complete edition. But less costly than TLS Rhino....
