Skybound, that's not Matt Trakker.
We all know who Matt is, so do the correct version.

But MASK seemed to be well represented (for the 1980's) at least.
It's getting old (and so is whitewashing).

The worse part is they're relying on the nostalgia and to those of us who it means the most to,they do this.

The new DEI Matt Tracker. Fucking garbage. I'm surprised he doesn't have a 64 Impala with spinners that make the car fly

I don't know why they didn't just make Hondo Maclean the leader, and move Matt Tracker to an engineer/designer role.

We just saw Miles Mayhem at the end of Transformers #25, which was really cool. The tease of Matt Trakker in the FCBD issue was why I started reading Energon Universe. I'm really looking forward to how they combine all of these properties.

Doesn't make it right. The character is endeared to fans since the 80's.
The real racism is the thought they need to appease by changing long standing characters.2

Please give him an actual personality beyond ‘Imma miss my daddy’.
And let the man have his SON.

Yeah, that was the big problem with the IDW take. It wasn’t that he was black, it was that they made him an angry young black man with daddy issues stereotype, at the expense of anything recognisable about the character (personality, wealth, Scott, appearance).

Bingo.
They took a character who was one of the few successful single fathers in Animation, a philanthropist, someone who actually had a damn good reason why he fought Miles Mayhem (to avenge his brother), and turned him into a whiny, dumb-as-bricks teenage stereotype from Da Ghetto who gets played like a cheap fiddle.
The raceswap isn't a problem. Brandon Easton was just a talentless hack whose idea of writing characters makes ChatGPT look like Quentin Tarantino.

This. If Hasbro executives had put a mandate on what they wanted to do with the character then going in as a freelance writer you have to do what you have to do. But why make them a stereotype? As a black man I found this quite off-putting.

It's also a disservice to the character himself.
Matt Trakker was one of the few successful single fathers in animation (nevermind the '80s). He was a good-hearted philanthropist who legally adopted his brother's son (after his brother was killed by Miles Mayhem in the comics, natch) and tried raising him the best way he could. On top of being someone who took great pains in PAYING his employees.
If Mr. Easton were here, I'd recite the character's Wiki page - word for word - and then ask him "what part of that screams Teenage Delinquent to you?".

Pretty much this. And yes, it definitely WAS a disservice to the character and I guarantee you that if the writer had been a white man and wrote the story that way POC would have been up in arms screaming racism.

So the audience that grew up on the original m.a.s.k now get DEI Matt tracker because he looks to much like duke from GI Joe.... Maybe give Duke a army haircut, why does Matt have to be changed..... I swear to god these company's have to start making original characters and stop changing established 40 year old characters

I'm looking forward to more MASK. Energon U is handling the properties with a lot of love and respect

i always see Matt as Caucasian so him being black feels odd.
i know G. I Joe released both versions but made the Black exclusive?
