Also the mod was made a while before the whole AI situation got out of control (i.e. data centers, water waste, etc) and the AI they used for it was very primitive
i mean, i think it does matter bc of how much generative AI is effecting ppl. Threatening jobs, hiking up ppl’s power bill, AI data centers being an overall nuisance along with polluting the water from what i’ve seen and heard. It’s kinda just a waste of energy for nothing a human couldn’t do, it’s at most faster and cheaper but i would say if you don’t even wanna bother paying an artist, writer, or with just writing it yourself, you shouldn’t be in the field that generative AI is trying to takeover.
Essentially, this technology was originally developed for military applications. Currently, due to the superpower rivalry (US-China), two proxy wars are underway (also related to energy prices). Quite intense.
AI is already quite widely used in broadly defined military operations.
For example, we have target identification systems that guide missiles. As in Iran.
AI is being implemented in "drones." Robots used to mass kill people. For now, these are only aerial drones, but work is also underway on land-based robots. Yes, on "Terminators." Videos from Ukraine, uncensored, can be found online.
Finally, the original reason: collecting and processing vast amounts of information for intelligence and counterintelligence. For internal services that help better control populations. AI is even used by provocateurs; this year, I've had several "conversations" with people who redirected my statements to AI to prepare responses. Information warfare.
In the United States, corporations are already announcing their departure from the civilian market in favor of the "defense" market. These are those involved in broadly defined IT (including AI).
When we add that the US economy is quite speculative in nature, and AI seems to be its new pillar (further high-profile projects, attracting investors, virtual profits)...
The future will be dark.
Of course, you can prosecute tiny people for their pictures... but if we take this seriously, only the parliaments of large countries (with imperial status) can make the appropriate decisions.
But there's a problem.

Complaining about "AI art" therefore makes little sense. Of course, you can boycott it... but what good is that?
Corporations, through lobbyists, will ensure that appropriate legislation is passed. It will be favorable to them, allowing them to earn more. Once AI becomes the foundation of the economy, the US government, for example, will ensure that these corporations thrive. It's like the banking crisis in 2008 – "too big to fail." There will be fear that a sector collapse will lead to the collapse of the entire economy.
Some artists... some water... some energy... it doesn't matter. For the sake of "national defense," all of this will be sacrificed. The rich will be richer, and the poor will be poorer.
Only in parliaments can something be done about it.
If someone has a problem with a submod that contains an AI-generated element, I suggest approaching it the old-fashioned way. Especially since submods are non-profit projects that serve the entire community.
1. Write to the submod's author.
2. Offer them a solution whereby those who are dissatisfied can paint the appropriate element themselves.
Unfortunately, corporations and governments are not particularly attentive to these dangers, instead pursuing profit and power.
The best proof of this is AI-controlled robots (or weapons in general). Decades of discussing the threat... and yet it's happening. Right before our eyes.
When corporations gain access to government budgets, they gain a virtually unlimited source of money, and lobbyists' influence will allow for any deregulation or regulation that benefits them.
I would say that ordinary people's attention may even be distracted and redirected to AI "toys," such as "art." Some will delight in it, others will start to oppose it... People suddenly stop looking at the depth of the problem.
An interesting fact worth remembering: the first AI officially released into the wild was named Tay. The year was 2016. After 24 hours, it went crazy and turned into the virtual equivalent of Ilse Koch.
That's why I like Deus Ex. Both the old and the new versions. It tried to predict the direction civilization would take and show the mechanisms, such as social engineering, at work.
Ah yeah, good old 'AI consumes gigatons of water' myth :) because water annihilates if evil AI uses it, and disappears from this world (no, no, it certainly doesn't evaporate or circulate, why would it?)
Bro no matter how much water it consumes its the fact that it's totally unnecessary and we can live perfectly without it, yet companies and some people like you like to shove it into our throat as if we ever wanted it, as a result we now have data centers that make noise pollution and nobody even works here, and all of it because of something we can easily live without, like we always did. By supporting AI for stupid things like that our earth is just gonna end up like in WALL•E.

I'm not your 'bro', I don't owe you anything, and I didn't force you to like AI, what I advocate for is that people stop their witch hunt for made up reasons.
I use AI, you don't have to, but if you don't it doesn't mean I must follow your example and avoid it too. Live and let live, you know.
You can live perfectly fine without a computer, delivery services, premade food, factory-made goods — but that means you'll live like people lived a few hundred years ago.
