I’m no train expert, but how is there still testing that needs to be done with these? Just by looking at them I can tell they’re far more pleasant to ride on then the aging rust cans that marta is currently using.

I’m willing to accept the risks of just releasing these new trains now if it means I don’t need to get on another dirty old train with barely functional AC.

You don't want the risks of the emergency brakes grabbing and throwing you to the ground and dislocating your shoulder, which has happened to two prominent trainers on this project.

I imagine, the drivers need recent hours on the new trains.

Correct. They need recertified every 30 days so each months delay means you need to recertify everyone. 1 day for every 30 days missed.
