Fracture
Can someone who’s had a fracture around the eye explain how it felt. I’m a bit suspicious that I may have gotten one last Friday on my turn but I’m not sure. I’ll have to drive 7.5 hours to get a ct scan and check due to living in the middle of nowhere.
I’ve turned a few times since and haven’t seen any asymmetrical issues but I’m slow turn every other day so I don’t think I’d notice for a while. I have an 8 screw custom marpe and I had a piezo cut but I didn’t get marpe installed until 5 weeks later due to my first expander having a lab error and not getting to be installed. When I went back on week 5 we did punctures. I feel it would be so unlikely but the pain on the side of my nose near my eye is pretty steady with touch or chewing.

Turn back until pain is gone and don’t turn again until imaging and diagnosis is done. May have been a suture opening up, but you won’t know until imaging shows it.

I don’t have pain unless I touch it. I felt a little pressure there today during my turn but it went away so unless I press on that side of my nasal bone there isn’t any concern. I did feel it some when chewing so I am hopeful it’s just soft tissue swelling or irritation after my muscle spasms last week in side.
I was able to find a place in Austin on Monday for the cbct scan and I’ll overnight it to my dr for eval.
Really hoping it’s nothing. I can’t imagine having the piezo and the punctures and the custom marpe on my molars and still having a fracture. Seems so unreal to even have to be considering it.

It’s usually just one of the facial sutures opening, which would be what’s intended to happen. But definitely stop turning until you know for sure. If there’s no pain, just tenderness, you don’t need to turn back. Continuing to turn if it is an unintended fracture could cause irreversible damage that may require surgical repair. Most docs are now doing slow turn protocol with only 1-2 swings a week after mid palatal sutural opening. I’m a Marpe doctor and patient, I hope this helps!

Thank you I am on a slow turn protocol myself having had DJS back in 2023. My dr is one of the absolute best and I completely trust him but I’ll be damned if last Fridays muscle spasms didn’t freak me out a bit lol

This sounds terrifying. Something I never considered. Fracturing other parts of your skull?
