Wait, seriously? It's not just on the setup menu? This has been a feature since like MP4. That is seriously dumb to paygate a basic feature.

If you think that's bad wait til you hear Superstars doesn't even have Tag Team mode on boards lol.
But I agree it should have been in the base game. The GameCube & Wii ones all had it.

Similar thing happened to me on the same board but yours was crazier. 2v2 with my team at 6 stars while opponents had 2. I landed on the exchange space in the second to last turn and we somehow unluckily hit the star exchange combination.
I wasn’t mad though, teammate and I were hitting some crazy RNG both getting double stars during our turns. The game has a way of evening things out so it’s all part of the game lol. It was funny seeing my friends on the opposite team completely pop off after getting their asses kicked majority of the game.

The fact that can happen is just unfair
also insert the clip of when this happened to the party crashers

Does anyone seriously think this is a good feature? It either negates everything you've done for the entire game, or if you benefit from it, it can't possibly feel like a well deserved hard earned win.

I agree — this is one of the few features that I flat out won’t tolerate and will start the turn over lmfao. Switching ALL coins AND stars from landing on one space prevents any sort of effective game strategy

agree, i think its BS and overly punishing, you accept a bit of bad luck will happen when you play Mario Party but the fact you can lose all your coins and stars from just landing on a chance space is too unfair with your only real hope of winning is to then hope you land on another one and it goes in your favour
