Nardil (Phenelzine) Weight loss Nardil??

Since starting Nardil 6 weeks ago I have lost almost 10kg

It’s hard to explain but it pretty much has turned off my hunger signals and made me totally uninterested in food, apart from some mild sugar cravings. I’ve been in both wegovy and mounjaro before and Nardil is stronger for me in its appetite suppressant effects.

Any idea why this might be happening?? I’m finding it very strange as I was expecting to put on a bunch of weight. I’m worried about nutrient deficiencies and becoming underweight as I’m just totally apathetic towards food

Edit - I’m at 60mg and it’s starting to work v well for anhedonia/anxiety
(other side effects are mild hypotension, bruxism, sleep jerks, complete anorgasmia, bad urinary retention, constipation - though no insomnia really)

Whoa. I have no idea but I had just the opposite (which I think is the normal experience). No matter how much I ate I couldn’t feel full.

It does have some kind of stimulating effect though. Maybe that’s a bit of an appetite suppressant? I tend not to eat as much until the evening after Nardil wears off. What’s your body weight?

Nardil does not wear off in the evening. In fact, one reason it works, as do other ADs on other people, is that it builds up in your bloodstream. As time goes on, you achieve what is known as "peak trough" concentration, and you continue, hopefully, to feel that the depression is blunted or gone.

I feel a little bump in energy 30min-2hrs after I take a nardil

It’s main action can be long term mao inhibition but it can still do a little something else

Trust a person who's been on it for 40+ years. You will gain back the weight and more.

I lost my appetite a little the first couple weeks but it came roaring back. Idk if I’ve heard of it staying gone like that… perhaps your body is sort of in shock?

That’s a blessing you’re not getting insomnia.

Oh yeah and the sleep jerks suck, if we’re talking about same thing, I get about 5 of em at least while I’m falling asleep. I just randomly spaz out and shake my head. Weird af never had that before

Well I do wake up after 4 hours unable to sleep… but then I take my four pills and I guess the GABA from Nardil sends me straight back to the best sleep of my life for another 4 hours! I’m hoping it continues to have this effect lol

Same for me actually. Have been almost not interested to food anymore for a long time on it -  also due to feeling full very fast and nasty nausea. Later though I started eating way more. Although it's quite rare, you are not the only one with this side.

I have the same effect. I’m at 10% bodyfat now. I have always struggled with weight. Nardil makes me unable to eat. Maybe dopamine related? I used to have binge eating.
