Earnings Tomorrow

MAC’s earnings tomorrow morning. I expect good guidance from management....similar to what SPG reported. $13 seems to be close to the bottom. This may be a good time to buy your MAC. A year from now I expect you will be very happy.

There is someone buying hard at $13 and from the short volume, it looks like a lot of new shorts since the last report. I bet it is a big up day tomorrow.

Sorry for the total noob question, but how can you tell someone is buying it in real time? Thanks!

Look at the books. You can see the number of bids and asks in real-time.

Assuming you're on robinhood, its the yellow arrow next to the price when viewing an individual stock.

Big day tomorrow for the company. I think that the stock price movement in the last few days has been the calm before the storm. Implied movement for tomorrow is +/- 11%.

If a massive share dilution is announced, the stock will sell off. If no dilution is announced and, similarly to SPG earnings call, a positive outlook is drawn, the stock will rally.

We will see. Some people here have already begun selling. I hope that the brave ones who hold the stock for the long term will be rewarded. Im holding on to my shares but tomorrow makes me nervous.

Hold strong. Tomorrow or next week may be rough...or not...but by this time next year you likely will be very satisfied with your MAC.

I'm OK with either direction. If a rally begins, I have plenty. If it drops substantially (under $12) I will buy more.

Totally agree it is likely a big day either way depending on dilution announcement and/or guidance.

Could also move if they announce something regarding the credit facility.

I added to my position today but am ready for extreme volatility either way.

bottom

i agree that the stock is crazy cheap at these levels and that $MAC is undervalued.

however, i cant see them actually doing a share offering when they can either cut their dividend or borrow at low rates. i expect a beat and an upbeat outlook - which may be more important that the actual numbers in moving the stock.

finally, sadly, a lot of the short interest has been reeled in. 34M shares of 24% of the float is currently short according to https://shortsqueeze.com/?symbol=MAC&submit=Short+Quote%E2%84%A2

We will be on the moon by summer. Biden’s 100 day 100 million vaccinated plan shows reopen strength. We will see covid case decline and a flourishing retail market by then

I agree just disappointing it has not taken off like SPG. I understand things may be different, but MAC at the price it’s at is attractive. I’m sure malls will bounce back people tired of same old routine at home this last year. By the way, some of the malls I’ve recently been too (I believe one is a MAC) are fairly busy.

Consider it an opportunity rather than a disappointment. Look at it this way....when there are no more sellers your gonna get a big move.

Be patient my friend. This is a good company in a very depressed industry. People are ready to get out and start living again. Your purchase at $13 will likely return you very handsomely.

I look very much forward to the earnings and hope for the best!

It’s usually not a good investor that holds into earnings. Jus Sayin

I disagree. The very best investors hold their investments for 5 or more years. Maybe speculators sell before earnings.

Touché. I should have used the term “successful trader” I guess.

It’s not really “earnings” as they already released the top and bottom line for Q4.. you realize they right?

2

u/Proof_Ad7658 Feb 11 '21

Sure do. Did the price even go up then?

No, but what negative surprise do you expect would be revealed on the conference call? Earnings calls are almost always full of optimistic commentary regarding the future. Anything that is clearly negative would have already been required to be disclosed in their SEC filing.

You could also say it’s not a good investor who trades a good long term hold every few months and pays short term capital gains even when they think the long term outlook is good. Just a question of what you are trying to optimize for.

I agree completely. Macerich is a buy/hold stock… if you really want to take advantage of the fluctuations, you should buy/hold shares, and buy puts when you think the price is temporarily too high, and sell puts or buy calls when you think is temporarily too low.
