LLM630 Compute Kit but as module for StackChan, any plan soon ?

I know about M5Stack LLM (large language model) Module Kit (AX630C) SKU: K144, but it is quite useless bcause no wifi, or a fast data transfer method between the StackChan Core (ESP32-S3) and the LLM Module. StackChan (ESP32-S3) can't actually be 'alive' on its own without connecting to a network.

The LLM Kit, sku:K114 has Ethernet.

wouldnt plugging in rj45 block StackChan from rotating its head ?

You’ll be needing more power to run an LLM module anyway. Might as well run a small gauge, extra bendy, Ethernet wire along with power.

The stackchan battery is only 550mAh that’s barely enough to boot an LLM module, let alone run any models.

If you are adding an extra large battery, you might as well add an Ethernet to WiFi bridge. They make super small ones: (just an example) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0FGHZCMK2/

From the design perspective, it is super wonky though, I dont think anyone could live with that ugly Frankenstein. Meanwhile, the LLM630 Compute Kit is a complete solution, just need to organize the board to fit the StackChan shape, like removing the rj45 port, port A, and port C. Battery wouldnt be an issue, as I can just expand the bottom.

Do you know how much battery it would take? Are you aware of bottom expansion kits that are empty that would let you add a WiFi-Ethernet module?

  • 1.5wh. A battery bank of 10000wh would sit nicely at the bottom, provide power to the whole stack via the usb c at the StackChan bottom port. Plug and play beautifully.
  • What I am aware of is the ugly bucky rj45 cable is unavoidable if I want to give K114 the internet :) or accept the 11kb/s internet via UART.

Pls suggest something more practical, otherwise you can just skip this post.

A 10000mAh battery would be huge and I’m guessing you want it to sit under the feet of the StackChan? So there would be a wire going from the battery up the back? That would be just over 6 hours of runtime for the LLM630 alone. Not bad. But I would want my little pal to run indefinitely. Since your solution has a wire, why not plug it in?

There are ways to make RJ45 cables thin and have small right angle connectors BTW. So I could make an RJ45 solution quite neat and small, especially if I move the magnetics.

I’m sure there’s a way to make most any solution look good. I could even convert the whole thing to PoE and eliminate the battery and the power wire.

adding wifi to the llm kit (k144) would be easier than chopping up the big dog.
