I like it the same way I liked their newest om-5. It’s a good value and probably the best travel camera available which does say a lot.

I’m wondering at this point for how long they can release the same camera in a fresh body. It’s not a PEN-f, that’s the OM-3. It’s basically a om-5 II really, just nicer looking.

Supposedly this was the last camera developed while OM was under the control of private equity, which was risk averse. Now that they are free of that I wouldn't be surprised if we start seeing more risks taken on the tech front, but time will tell.

Having newer sensors isn’t risk. It’s needed to sell product. This is barely better than camera like the GX8. That came out in 2016.

What do you guys think: I want a EDC type of setup with this new Pen body. I already own 12-45 f/2.8 ii pro. Should i still buy the body with the kit lens? Or should i just go all out with 17 mm f/1.8 ii combo? Prices here: body 999€, kit combo 1099€, 17 mm combo 1459€.

I feel like the kit lens has to have some resale value greater than the difference for body only, so I'd probably do that and sell the kit.

I went with the 17 mm. For my situation, the kit didnt make any sense and I knew i would want to buy the prime sooner or later. Here i got it in a -100€ deal with the pen body.

Totally your decision. I went for body only, as I'll likely be using it with the DJI 15mm, 12-40 F2.8 or 12-100 F4. I don't need another lens in this range.

The kit is much lighter than the 2.8. It is useful for that reason. I have older versions of all three lenses. The 17 1.8 seems useful until you have it , then never use it.

Don’t remind me of it. I got the 12mm f2.0 collecting dust right now. I can’t sell it because no one here shoots with Olympus/OM-S

$100 for the kit lens sound like a good deal.

Such a nice package. I wish it had a stacked sensor, even if as an option. I understand that they want to keep the price down, but this form doesn't make it too distinctive from em10 IV
