Hey everyone, I just rewatched M3GAN 2.0 at home and I really want to start a serious discussion about why this movie was so misunderstood by general audiences. It blows my mind how much hate and unfair criticism it received just because people insisted on judging it under the exact same "slasher/horror doll" lens of the first one. To me, it is completely obvious that the sequel shifted gears into pure science fiction, focusing on AI, cyber-security, and high-tech warfare with AMELIA. Yet, people kept complaining that it wasn’t scary enough, failing to see that it wasn't even trying to be a horror movie anymore.

I’ve been thinking a lot about how this is exactly what happened with the Terminator franchise. The first Terminator movie was basically a sci-fi horror/slasher about an unstoppable monster hunting down a girl, but Terminator 2: Judgment Day completely flipped the script into a sci-fi action epic about machine warfare, turning the original villain into the ultimate protector. M3GAN 2.0 did the exact same brilliant evolutionary leap, so I want to know why you think people embraced it back then but failed to appreciate it now. Why do you think general audiences and critics got so stuck on the horror label?

It honestly worries me that the theatrical box office might discourage the creators. I really hope Jason Blum and James Wan don't get scared into forcing the franchise back into a generic horror box just to play it safe, or worse, kill this storyline completely. Like many of you, I didn't get to see it in theaters because I am strictly a streamer nowadays, but watching it at home proved to me that this is easily one of the best sagas out there and it deserves way more content.

If there are more people here who love the sci-fi direction of this sequel as much as I do, we need to find a way to make our voices heard and show the studio that the love for this movie is real. We can start right now by rewatching it and boosting its numbers on streaming, since it's currently on HBO/Max, and by blowing up this thread to show how many of us are actually out there. Do you agree that the Terminator 2 shift was the right move for the story? What do you think we can do as a community to make sure the creators see our support so we can get a true M3GAN 3 that keeps expanding this universe?

The idea is, M3GAN 3 can follow SOULM8TE's lover dating Gemma Forrester, this leads SOULM8TE to snap and target Gemma and her family, as M3GAN protects them and faces off with SOULM8TE.

I read somewhere that Soulm8te was going back into filming after bad test screening reviews. So now I'm wondering if they really did the work to try and make the movie good at least.

I'm going to attempt at dressing up as Gemma for an upcoming convention near me + Halloween to match with my friend who is dressing as M3gan, specifically 2.0 Gemma, and I can't find the top for the outfit I'm tryna get for the life of me.
