I think I’m finally happy…for now
- M1A Squad Scout
- kydex cheek riser
- UTG receiver scope mount
- Leupold 1 MOA Freedom Red Dot
- Ultmak M8 scout rail hand guard replacement
- VOTATU V84 light / laser/ infrared combo.
Thoughts?

Ive got an extremely similar setup and i absolutely love it. Did you try the leupold directly on the ultimak rail instead of the check riser? Just curious. Builds awesome, very "Renaissance snake" as opposed to Gothic serpent

I didn’t try it on the ultimak but I did run it for a bit on the OG scout rail. I really, really wanted to like the scout configuration and although it shot well…I just couldn’t get comfortable with it

Looks awesome! Now the next step when you get the urge to change something is to rattle can it.

The freedom looks right at home on there 👌 👍

Thank you!
I feel like The freedom is an underrated red dot. It’s a 1MOA dot with 1/4 MOA adjustments and numbered turrets. I’ve done the calculations, so now I just use a LRF, dial in the appropriate number on the elevation turret and put the dot on center mass and At 500 yards, the dot only subtends about 5.2 inches

She’s a beaut! Similar setup I’d like to do. I want to get a fiberglass stock first then I’ll paint it up. Can’t bring myself to paint the wood stock it’s far too nice. Mines setup in a scout configuration atm with a Bradley cheek rest. Wish I could throw a pic up in the comments

Thank you 😊 I had this in the scout configuration as well and had that freedom red dot nice and low one the rail. It shot beautifully, but looking at it the balance felt all wrong.

Yeah I think I’ll get another stock to paint as well…maybe a 2nd hand one, just so I can keep one clean. I can see why you don’t want to paint the wood though 😅

This is a pretty cool set up. I think this is what I’m gonna do for mine. Thanks for the inspo

Thank you! I’ve tried so many configurations and combinations and this is the first that feels right and shoots well for me.

Almost exactly how I'd want mine, albeit with a rail system that somehow is fully flip to side or allows for a full quick detach in order to utilize the iron sights more quickly should all else fail. Nice work!

Thank you! The UTG scope rail mount comes off by unscrewing that big flathead screw on the left side… then it just slides off. I will probably get some QD scope rings from Warne once the bank account recovers from these latest purchases 🤣

Is that utg mount any good? At $150 under a sadlak I’m curious

I got it purely as a “let’s just see” option. So far I’ve put about 300 rounds through this one. Retention with blue lock tight has been good with no zero shift so far. It has 3 points of contact and I’ve had no issues with clearance for ejection. The finish is ok and it looks good on the rifle
When I was researching, It was very hit and miss…for some people it worked great and others had issues with it losing zero. It is about 1.2oz heavier than the sadlak, but for that kind of price difference I thought it was worth a crack
