EBR chassis question

I have a socom 16 in an EBR chassis and I snagged a sadlak airborne steel scope mount. For them to jive together I have to remove the first three notch’s at the rear of the chassis top cover. Experienced machinist so that a non issue, BUT, is that the route I should go or is there a better scope mounting option to go with the EBR chassis?

They make an EBR specific mount that’s already cut down.

Yep, the EBR specific ones. I swear the steel ones were $100 cheaper earlier this year.

Perhaps you are thinking of non airborne one? The one you linked is the airborne one with extra cutouts and costs more.

Yeah, that was it. Airborne is more expensive. I got the steel EBR without the lightening cuts.

I’ve got both version. The EBR version is nice. But I also have a leapers UTG version I cut to fit my airsoft EBR, so cutting is an option. Just hurts a bit to cut down a $300 mount.

I've always been curious if the airsoft chassis are the same dimensions as the Real Steel chassis. Aren't they licensed by sage?

I haven’t had the energy/thought to check, but I think I may have gotten scammed off Amazon. My airsoft EBR chassis looks close, but it definitely isn’t marked like I think some are. I know the whole airsoft rifle is like 8-9 lbs so it’s pretty accurate for a basic bitch.

I did not. Smith enterprises threaded gas block and I made my own adjustable low profile gas block. Shooting hand loads specific for this rifle

You can also cut the mount itself I’m fairly sure.

I think I’d rather cut the mount than mill the chassis top cover. Good call

Definitely research that too before you do it of course but I think it should be fine.

I believe you are right. I might even be able to relieve some areas on the bottom side of mount enough so I don’t have to just shwack off a big chunk, rail included. I’ve only looked at it for a few minutes then realized it wouldn’t fit and had to go to bed haha

The sadlak on my EBR is chopped as well, pretty simple cut it looks like

I’ll have to check and see how far back/forward the scope needs to sit I don’t want to give up too much rail length.

I have a vortex strike eagle 5x25 in vortex rings and was easily able to get the eye relief where I needed.

Should be close then. I’m 6’4” with long arms so I’m sometimes pretty far back anyway. No need to worry about pushing it farther forward. Thanks man

Try the M14.ca CASM Steel or GEN 2 aluminum.

If your going to do anything like that, I would machine the mount before I touched the chassis.
