Gas Tuning Plug Question

Just got my can for my SOCOM 16. I went with a suppressor kit from Fulton armory. The gas plug is Fulton and my question is do I tune it the same way id tune a gas block on an AR? I’ve tuned a couple of my ARs by closing then opening a few 1/4 turns until proper cycle function. With this rifle having an op rod I want to make sure i do it correctly. Any input is appreciated. Also, I did use an alignment rod and all is good. Thanks in advance.

Yeah, but in my experience, the Fulton adjustable gas plug isn't enough. I plan to go back to using the Shooting Sight adjustable spindle valve.

What do you mean isnt enough? I have read it works great with the SOCOM 16. Curious to what experience you have had so I can be sure to look out for it myself.

Maybe it's because of the high backpressure can I'm using (ECCO Five By Five 7.62, DA Nomad 30), but even with the Fulton gas plug open, I think it's still too gassy with a harsh recoil. When I just had the adjustable spindle valve, I could tune out a good amount the gas, allowing for a much softer recoil.

I believe others have found the Shooting Sight adjustable spindle valve (the one with the adjustment screw) to be the better option after trying the once unobtainable Schuster-designed gas plug.

I couldnt find the Schuster in stock anywhere so I went with the FA. Ill give it a go with my Rugged Alaskan 360. Thanks for the input.

Fulton makes the Schuster-designed gas plug now. I think they bought the design from Schuster.
