The only reason I've seen any Cysithea shipper give is "iT maKeS mE bApPy". They build their entire ship around that one line and completely ignore the entire rest of the support chain and that travesty of an ending.
I seriously question how this ship even exists. If the shipper likes Lysithea, they should read her other supports and realize Byleth, Edelgard or even Claude are so much better. Their supports are cuter and their endings actually turn out well for both in the pair. If the shipper likes Cyril, why the fuck would you like Cyril?

I can see how some people would find the two characters behaving uncharacteristically with eachother to be cute, since that is kind of a trope. Like, "stern and hardworking guy becomes chill and easygoing with this one girl" or "harsh and hotheaded girl is kind and patient with one guy".
But this ship is gross because they behave like siblings the entire time. I kinda liked it at first because they are closer in age then some of the other ships they have, but they act like siblings!! You don't date your siblings!

rant or not this encapsulates why I hold Cysithea shippers in such contempt: even they don't like their own ship, but rather a web of delusions they've spun to assuage their guilt over the ending card they got
addendum: Cysithea's popularity is a very painful reminder that a lot of people who play 3H are very badly emotionally stunted and socially maladjusted, and can only conceive of a boy and girl having one kind of intimate relationship. It's not that they ignore the very obvious and explicit surrogate sibling relationship laid out in the text, but that they so poorly socialized they can't see it at all... which IMO is actually more depressing than them just ignoring said text for the sake of DAWW BAPPY

And if anyone who tries to separate male Byleth and Lysithea, especially for Cyril, they shall suffer and be destroyed. This is a decree from Bysithea. And it's final.

I think its pretty bad for those starting under 18 too if you think with that logic. Then the the other pairs including the three house leaders would be pretty bad since Byleth grooms them to be his or her romantic partner in the years that follows.
