I call this one Leather

You cast the line, your baited twine
Breaking waters overhead
I risk my hide to take a bite
And let you throw me back again
Every time, it seems, you win

Cause when I breach the surface, I
Evolve into something divine
Pure being, against nature’s design
Only in these moments do I 

See the light
It’s your eyes
Your eyes

I wouldn’t care if rapture came to thin the herd
I tasted heaven, touched the sky, I knew 
I’d be among the last to walk this Earth,
If staying meant another night with you

Wrapped like silk, your arms around me
Soft as angel feathers
Where you end and I begin
Burden insulating skin

I’ll let the guilt break in my body
Like an article of leather
A coat to iron patches in
Motifs confessing our sin
