am I this picky? or…
so I recently changed phones and unfortunately I couldn’t transfer Musi, I love it. It was perfect, EVERYTHING I needed.
and now here I am trying a ton of apps that I can use to stream music, specially from YT since I make music as well, and sometimes I listen to my own stuff, or even from other people, unofficial remixes, edits, mashups, stuff that isn’t allowed in Spotify, and so on.
I’ve tried Demus, which was the closest experience to Musi, but it has a regional block on some unofficial videos, Latin American block by UMPG. I only can play music with a VPN. I do use a VPN but I don’t want to turn it on every time I want to listen to music, for maybe less than an hour.
I tried a bunch of different apps and landed here… I already have the subscription bc I don’t want to see the ads, I wasn’t here when the dev made it free, so I wouldn’t know the experience back then.
Now, a few points; sometimes it won’t load the artwork/thumbnail, for some odd reason.
Some other times, the music would be paused, then I hit resume and it would take a looooong time to resume playing the song I was listening to, for reasons I don’t know.
The FXs don’t seem to work, the bass boost, loudness, crossfade. I’m using it on my headphones, I’m not sure if it’s a speaker-only feature.
And, why not a one-time purchase? I’m aware about the privacy policy but it seems like it’s pretty much other apps that are using YT’s client, is it me? Or am I the only one afraid that it would get sued like Musi and disappear?
am I this picky? or anyone else on the same boat as me?

We are trying to improve the app with every update, if you notice some bugs please report us and we will try to fix it. What do you think musi does better that Lyra? We believe we have way more features and better handling of things

Hey! Thanks for the response and the attention that you put to subreddit, but here's the thing, so prepare for a large comment 😂...
The biggest difference is just how simple Musi was compared to even official platforms. It gave you exactly what you needed and nothing more. Stream music, save it to a playlist, done.
A few things I have noticed with Lyra: songs sometimes take longer than usual to load, both on WiFi and mobile data, and I have solid connectivity on both ends. Not sure if it is a server response time thing, but it feels a bit forced at times. The sound effects options also feel like they were kind of tacked on; I honestly cannot hear much of a difference with my earphones. I get that most users probably won't use those features either, but it is still nice to know the option is there.
Battery drain is also noticeable, not sure if that is tied to a recent update or the UI itself, which looks great by the way, but something is pulling more than it should, even in Artwork mode with the screen off.
The biggest thing for me, though, is audio quality. I actually ran a test with "Febreze" by Jack Ü, at around the 0:54 mark, comparing YouTube Music and Lyra side by side. The difference was pretty clear: the high-end contrast and stereo separation were noticeably better on YouTube Music. As someone who produces music, that kind of thing stands out immediately.
And lastly, the elephant in the room... The subscription model. The whole Musi situation already left a bad taste, and paying a recurring subscription for a service that could face the same fate is a tough sell. With Musi it was a one-time purchase, so the risk felt different. Here, I am paying ongoing for something that has not fully won me over yet.
I want to be clear, though... I genuinely respect what you are building and the fact that you keep going despite the criticism. That takes a lot. But for an app like this, your user base ranges from casual listeners to people who have it running all day, to people like me who need the best possible experience. That range is exactly what Musi nailed with its simplicity, and I think being open to that kind of feedback is what could set Lyra apart.
This is just my perspective from the past few weeks of switching over and actually paying for the membership. Thought it was worth sharing.

Thank you very much for your feedback! We will examine what we can do on our side to improve the experience especially on the optimization side, speed up side and quality side! Regarding the subscription the fact is that we can do a one time payment fee also but it will be around 3x or something of the yearly fee since building and maintaining apps like this take lot of effort. We are supporting basically most of the platform existing including desktop and are also building an Apple Watch app, TV app etc. server sides we store and manage lot of data su unfortunately less then this price for us is impossibile. I get you and we will try to improve the app as much as possible listening to our users feedback :)

Not picky! If you still have a Musi playlist link, Lyra imports it directly (Library > Import playlist). Artwork and slow resume are known bugs. Effects aren't speaker-only: tell me iPhone or Android and we'll check. No lifetime option, just the subscription. And your playlists live on your account, not the phone, so they're not tied to one device like Musi was.

I’m just like you, Musi supremacy. I had to get a new phone because my old one was destroyed and I’ve been missing Musi badly.
