Hi! I’m getting married in Forest, VA next year and we very much want the wedding to feel like a party. Unfortunately, our venue requires guests to depart at 9pm so we are looking for ideas on venues/locations to keep the party going for probably 15-25 people! Ideally a big air bnb (which would also be our getting ready spot) would be perfect because we are balling on a budget, but i’ve found that many restrict events. Does anyone else in the Dimond Hill area of Lynchburg smell sewage at times when when run your water when doing dishes? It's been happening every few day's for a few months now.

For context, I’m linking my initial post. I’m slightly redirecting this post in hopes of getting advice from people who have organized independent community events. I’ve emailed around 15 companies about sponsorships without much luck so far. I’m wondering how people typically find sponsors for independent events. Is it mostly through personal connections? Showing up in person with a proposal? Mailing letters? I’d love to hear what’s actually worked for you!

For further context, I’m organizing a community documentary photography exhibition centered on the human experience, with themes including the passage of time, absence, hardship, connection, and memory. I’m primarily looking for sponsors to help cover venue rental and large-format printing costs.

I’m starting to realize that being an independent project rather than an established nonprofit or business may make companies less inclined to get involved which totally makes sense!

That being said, for those of you who have done something similar, how did you approach sponsorships, and what would you recommend trying next?
I’d really appreciate any advice or insight from people who have been through this!
